The title is the nice way to put it.  The other way would be, “Salman Khan threw a birthday party while his stepmother went to the funeral of one of her closest friends.”

To be fair, it was Salman’s 50th, so a major bash was appropriate.  He threw it at his “farmhouse” (Indian-English for “country house/vacation house”).  Lots and lots of people came, Times of India has photos but does not let me copy them.  Everyone from Tabu to Mika Singh was there.  And Karisma Kapoor, which is just feeding my made-up rumor about them being a couple.

Meanwhile, back in Bombay, Sadhana’s funeral drew in the big names of yesteryear.  Salman’s stepmother Helen, and his father Salim, plus her girl gang of Asha Parakh, Waheeda Rahman, and Shammi.  And the slightly younger, slightly artsier types, Deepti Naval and Poonam Sinha.  And Sanjay Khan (Hrithik’s ex-father-in-law, Zeenat Aman’s ex-boyfriend) with a terrible terrible mustache.

Before the official funeral, some people had also visited with the family.  Helen, Waheeda, and Asha again.  Also Karan Johar’s mother.

These are just the first pictures, I am sure images from both the funeral and the party will continue to trickle out of the next few days.  Normally, I would be funeral focused, as it is more likely to dredge up old scandals.  But as I said in my post right after her death, Sadhana’s era was so peaceful and supportive, there actually aren’t many scandals to dredge.

So my eyes will turn to Salman’s party, I am sure SOMETHING happened there!  Remember, it was at a Salman party years ago that the big Shahrukh-Salman feud was begun!  I’m not hoping for anything quite that juicy, but gossip of any kind would just delight me.
