The news today ranges from exciting to wacky to happy, so it is a good day!  Let me see if I can accurately describe it all.

First, the wackiness that I find fascinating (as does twitter since it was trending for a while): remember how the whole Hrithik/Kangana thing started because he said he would rather date “d pope” in a tweet?  And then they ended up mutually suing each other for defamation?

Well, now a new party has entered the fray!  Abraham Mathai, the All India Christian Voice President and the former Vice-Chairman of Maharasthra Minority Commission.  Who is suing because he finds the comments about the Pope “hurtful.”  I assume he means “hurtful to the religious sentiments of Indian Christians,” but it also kind of reads like the Pope feeling hurt that Hrithik doesn’t want to date him.  What has he done wrong?  Why won’t Hrithik love him?!?!? (by the way, I identify as Christian if I identify as anything, so I feel pretty comfortable making fun of this whole thing.  Also, this particular Pope seems like he probably has a sense of humor and would kind of get a kick out of the whole thing)

Oh, and bollywoodhungama has put their finger on the most important part of this whole thing.  Abraham Mathai’s lawyer is the same as Kangana’s.  So, probably not so much a spontaneous expression of religious sentiments as a calculated play to make Hrithik’s life even harder on the part of the lawyer, who has just roped Abraham in with a promise to get publicity for his group.  Especially since I googled All India Christian Voice, and the first thing that came up was a Facebook page that only has 22 likes.  So, they could use the publicity.

That’s the wacky story, but there’s also a Babies!!! story.  Salman’s little sister Arpita gave birth to a son, who I am sure is adorable and also very macho, as all Khan sons are.  Oh!  And there’s a photo!  Which confirmes the adorableness, although the machoness is left open to speculation.

This also means that Helen is now a Grandmother (while she is stepmother to Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, and Alvira, Arpita was adopted by her and Salim and is fully her daughter).  So the next time you watch this, think to yourself “that woman is now a Grandmother!”

Oh!  Another photo!  Look how happy!  This should make up for the ickiness of Arbaaz and Malaika’s recently announced separation.

And finally, new Shahrukh movie rumors!  So, we already know that he has Fan coming out in two weeks (woot woot!), and then Raees is currently filming and scheduled for an August release.  And there is the R. Balki produced/Gauri Shinde directed movie with Alia that they are swearing up and down will not be a love story between him and Alia.  But now, rumors are flying that Sanjay Leela Bhansali might be looking to sign him!  I don’t know if I believe these rumors, because it’s based on nothingness, but I would be curious about another creative interaction between the two.  Mostly because of what a different creative space SRK is in since Devdas.  While Sanjay has been accused of just remaking Devdas over and over again (the “Dola Re Dola” comparisons with “Pinga” were pretty accurate), Shahrukh’s gone from a romantic hero to an action star and, with the next 3 films I listed above, a real life hard core serious actor.  I would love to see how they work together now and compare it with back in the day.
