Happy Mothers Day Again! I’ve Done Songs, and a Whole Movie, Now Here are Some Particular Scenes to Celebrate

I love this holiday!  I have so many potential post topics I can bring out!  Now, let’s talk about the best dialogue scenes for mothers!

1. I’m just going to get this out of the way from the beginning, so you aren’t waiting for it.  Greatest line in the history of Indian film, quoted in A.R. Rahman’s Oscar’s speech, etc. etc.

2. How did the remake manage to make this scene even darker than the original?  Although I think at least the new mother is a little less with holding than the original.  I mean, come on woman!  Your son is dying!  At least give him a pat on the head!

3.  I couldn’t find just the one bit I wanted, but if you click the video below, it should start playing right at the awesome part.  Do not get between Sridevi and her baby!

(If it doesn’t work, go to 2:15:21)

4. Another one that I can only find within the entire film!  Why do youtube people not put up separate videos of the one bit I like from a movie?  Anyway, I think it is important to see the proper way to discipline a child, if that child is 90s Sanjay Dutt and you are Raakhee.

(If it doesn’t work, go to 2:20:41)

5. And finally, what NOT to do on Mothers Day.  If at all possible, try not to kidnap a newborn child, stepping over their mother/your wife’s body as you leave.

And, bonus!  Since I put a scene in the songs post, here’s a song for the scenes post!

  1. Hahaha I did think of the Raja Hindustani scene at the start of your post – it’s just too weird.

I would include the scene from DDLJ – with Farida Jalal when she talks to Simran about how she never wanted Simran to make sacrifices but is now asking for it – or the scene when she tells Simran and Raj to run away – or when she’s playing around with Simran in all the light scenes. OK, just everything.

From memory, Shakti- the power had pretty powerful scenes. But that memory is about a decade old so who knows.

    • I had the same problem with DDLJ! I was going to include something, but there were just too many to choose from. Next year, maybe I do a whole DDLJ post for Mother’s Day.

  2. Yeah I figured as much – since I know how much you love DDLJ.
I guess you could even include KKHH with the love of a grandmother and granddaughter. Or or or K3G with the love of an Aaya and the kid she takes care of. Maybe next year just a post on Farida Jalal hahaha
