Lots of little stories about upcoming movies! Some of them about to release, some of them not even started to film yet.
Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se Fun Song
Well, this is fun! I was so-so on it when it was just Dharmendra in a mustache and Salman, but once Sonakshi showed up, I started to really enjoy it. Just kind of strange, right? Why Sonakshi? Why Rekha? Why Salman? Oh well, it’s fun.
Another Dance Movie
I don’t really mind the dance movies, the choreographers really seem to know how to use the camera, and of course the dancing is wonderful, so that makes it a fun watch for me. Bosco Martis of Bosco-Caeser is directing this one (he did “Yeh Tara Woh Tara” and lots of other songs I can’t remember). Interesting thing, Sanya Malhotra from Dangal is starring. (story here)
So, is Sanya’s career or Fatima’s in better shape right now? Fatima has Thugs, which is going to be a big big blockbuster and she gets to work with Aamir again and Amitabh and Yash Raj. But Sanya has two small films lined up, bam-bam, this one and Pataakha, keeping her in the minds of the audience and making even more connections.
I don’t know, who is in a better place? What do you think?
Sonam Casts Sikander
Zoya Factor is shaping up to be such a well-produced movie. Just in the way that the announcements are slowly coming out. First the book was purchased, then the lead cast was announced (a reasonably short amount of time later). And now Sanjay Kapoor is announced to play her father, and a couple days later Sikander Kher is announced as her brother. Very nice, very lowkey and reliable kind of promotions. And a very nice reasonable order in casting announcements, filming isn’t even fully scheduled yet, they are getting the team together first. Makes me optimistic for the end result being something reasonable and well-made. (story here)
Also, I really like Sikander Kher. As one of the few people who have seen both Aurangzeb and Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive, I can say that he is excellent in both dramatic and comedic roles.
Helicopter Eela Delayed, Thanks to Dengue
Oh dear, Dengue. It has struck down the director of Helicopter Eela. Although he left the hospital to go onset and film the scheduled cameo by Amitabh, with doctor and IV standing by just in case. Between Dengue and Amitabh, Amitabh has once again won (remember Yashji left the hospital to go to Amitabh’s 70th birthday? And then died. But only after the birthday!). (story here)
Anyway, the movie is more or less done, but the editing isn’t finished, and Ajay took the executive decision to move the release forward a month in order to give them time to prepare. I like this decision! I like it just as a reasonable considerate decision for his employees, but also as a sign that they aren’t going to feel locked into some release date with thousands of screens and so on, this is a small practical film that can move and adjust as things happen.
