Saturday Small Talk: I’m Buying a Car! What’s Up With You?

Happy Saturday!  I am sleeping in (at least, that’s the plan) and then going car shopping with my parents.  Fun fun!  How’s your Saturday going?

So, let’s talk!  What’s new in the world today?  Did any of you manage to see Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi?  How was it?

Shahrukh dropped off the Forbes list but Salman and Akshay are on it.  For those of you in India, have you noticed any significant drop in Shahrukh brand endorsements?  That’s usually where most of his money comes from (at least, of the direct income type that Forbes would track).  Amitabh is off it too.  Perhaps some high level tax dodge they are both utilizing?  What do you think?

1. George Clooney – £186,000,000

2. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson – £96,400,000

3. Robert Downey Jr. – £63,000,000

4. Chris Hemsworth – £49,000,000

5. Jackie Chan – £35,400,000

6. Will Smith – £32,600,000

7. Akshay Kumar – £31,500,000

8. Adam Sandler – £30,000,000

9. Salman Khan – £29,900,000

10. Chris Evans – £26,000,000

And finally, place your bets now!  Will I get a car by the end of the day today or will Hazel and I return home, carless?

  1. All men on the list 😑

Good luck car shopping! Last night I watched Bareilly Ki Barfi and thought it was okay. The writing was wildly implausible and the characters’ actions made no sense but Rajkummar was fantastic. I was sort of half-watching the movie while doing other things but everytime Rajkummar was on the screen he had my full attention. He’s so good and I hope he gets a career like Irrfan.

    • Does Forbes break it down by gender? I think they do. But the point stands, they only break it by gender because if it was mixed the woman would all be down under 20.

So glad you saw Bareilly Ki Barfi! It’s such a nice happy movie. The director’s next film is with Kangana which makes me very curious. What did you think of Ayushmann? I think this is your first movie with him? He’s an actor that kind of creeps up on you, very relaxed and every man, and then by movie two or three you start to really like him onscreen and want to see more of him. And then of course Pankaj Tripathi (Kriti’s father) is positioned to be something big, maybe the next Anupam Kher.

        • Shubh Mangal Saavdhan just got added to Prime and has a similarly supportive father, and the same actress as the mother, plus Ayushmann playing a similar role. So basically, it’s the exact same movie, but with a different plot. If you want more of the same.

  2. Betting on your owning a car by the end of the day. It’s beautiful weather here today, makes one optimistic.

It’s my birthday. Visiting niece is watching the kids tonight and my husband is taking me out to dinner.

  3. I heard good things about Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, and I can’t wait to see it.
I have seen #RX100 today, and it’s me or the protagonist looks like Sunil Shetty’s secret son?

    Good luck with the car!
