Well, thanks to the recent glut of sports biopics, lots of options for celebrating this one!!!!

Starting with an oldie but a goodie, “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander”!

Moving along, and heading down south since this is after all a “National” day of sport.  “Antartica” from Thuppakki

There’s a little bit of sport in this song, although more in the movie as a whole.  It’s easy to forget, but Madhavan’s character somehow makes the national cricket team? “Rojakale” from Priyamani Thozhi.

A very Malayalam take on sports, 1983. “Ollakkam Chodumaayi”

Heading back north, I will never not use an excuse to play this song. “Dhaakad” from Dangal.

A new song, which came from a movie that didn’t get much notice.  But I liked it! “Soorma Anthem” from Soorma

And finally, to end with the greatest sports speech in Indian film (I think), “Sattar Minute” from Chak De India.
