I am sure my regular Tamil readers are rolling their eyes a bit at this. But this is such a wonderful movie, and a great introduction for those of you who have been all-Hindi up until now. AR Rahman soundtrack, mixture of stars (Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam), and a great script based on Jane Austen. What’s not to love? (by the way, no Tamil on Tuesday this week because I am hoping to see Chekka Chivantha Vaanam in theaters and I will review it whenever I can see it even if the day doesn’t start with a “T”)
Additional bonus, the rights of Kandukondain Kandukondain are owned by Rajshri, whose policy is to put their films up on youtube at no charge. Don’t be alarmed by the lake of a subtitle button, the subtitles are built right into the image, so they are actually better than when they are superimposed. Oh, and don’t worry, Aish is dubbed so she’s not that bad:
YES!

Perfect! And it’s well worth watching, especially if you know your Austen.

This is in my list of “movies I like Aish in” from the unpopular opinions post.
I haven’t seen KK in a decade, so would be good to see if my opinion holds up.

I saw it just a few months back and she holds up for me! Largely because she is dubbed, not just that it isn’t her delivering the dialogue, but that she can focus more on the other parts of the performance. And Tabu is brilliant, of course.
