I’ve reviewed almost every film on this list, so I thought I might as well just write out them all and put in links to the ones I’ve seen, and then I can fill in the rest when I finally get around to reviewing them.
Agni Natchathiram
Roja
Thiruda Thiruda
Bombay
Dil Se
Guru
Raavan/Ravaanam
Chekka Chivantha Vaanam
I hope you will review Dil Se for the film club? I’ve been meaning to watch this.

I wrote one of those massive academic detailed papers about it years ago, which kind of wore me out. I’ll have to see if I can come up with something knew and spritly and blog-style instead.

I don’t mind the lengthy academic version, versus making you work too hard harvesting something new 🙂

I don’t know how acedemic papers work, but if you can you should definitely share them. It would be interesting for us noobs to get a sense of how cinema is discussed academia.

No need to review Agni Naktchathiram. It is just a montage of Song,Dance,Comedy&fight. Not much of a plot.
But do watch it. A very fun movie!

Thanks, I was wondering what it was! I knew I was missing Thiruva Thiruva and Raavan, but I’d never heard of that one.

I disagree. It’s a very well made masala movie. The songs, action & relationship drama is engrossing. It’s definitely worth a watch.

Well, that gives me 3 Mani Ratnam movies I still have to watch! I kind of don’t want to at this point, it’s better to know I still have 3 more left out there in the world than to know I am completely done.

Do watch AgniN ; it is Ratnam’s version of the summer blockbuster.
Grab the popcorn and stop thinking.
Not sure if there is any point in reviewing such a film !?

Yes, please watch AgniN. It’s masala done well. Gripping family drama with a good dose of fun and great songs.

I haven’t watched his first movie-Pallavi Anupallavi-myself. But it’s supposed to be good & added bonus(for u)-Anil Kapoor’s first film. Just saw one scene in YouTube & it’s all things MR is famous for-heady romance, great music, swoony hero etc.
