Saturday Small Talk: Priyanka’s Wedding, I Got Enough Sleep, What Else Is There to Talk About?

Happy Saturday!  I slept late, it was great.  But now I am here, finally getting around to putting up the Saturday small talk post.

Nick and PC Wedding

Well, rumor has it that Nick and Priyanka will get married sometime next month in Jodhpur.  Which is really quit little notice!  Especially for a destination wedding.  But then rumor also says that they are “only” inviting around 200 people, so I guess it doesn’t take that long to plan.

I know 200 sounds like a lot (4 times as big as my most extended family list, for instance).  But when you add on the Indian family definition of “close”, that’s at least 100 people right there (PC’s cousins, and their spouses and children, and their parents, and her parents’ closest cousins and their children and spouses).  Plus Nick’s family.  Plus the really close friends you absolutely have to invite.  It’s not just that this list fills out 200, I think it exceeds 200.  there are going to be relatives and friends and stuff that will be going to be left out.

Really, 200 is a super awkward number!  Keep it down to 20 and everyone understands that will be just immediate family and one closest friend.  Put it up to 2,000 and you can bring in pretty much everyone you need to.  But 200?  That’s just large enough and small enough to guarantee offense.

Oh, also they are thinking about being married at the Umaid Bhawan palace, which looks quite nice.  Although a bit large for only 200 people.

I Got Enough Sleep

The other big news of the day!  I got home at midnight (movie review going up in a bit), and was in bed by one and slept to 9.  And then finished my book, and then made pancakes, and then walked Dog Hazel, and now I am writing this post, very very late.  But I am guessing you will all forgive me.  And maybe after I finish it, I go back to bed for a little nap.

Dog Hazel Has a New Blanket

Now that winter is coming, I thought she needed a little blanket for the living room, to go with the one in her bed, the one in the car, and the one at my office.  It’s red!

  1. Prick story reminds those ABC tv shows I hate watching because there is too much drama. Unexpected engagment, bankrupcy, “they won’t marry anytime soon”, wedding in 1 month. Let’s better talk about Hazel’s new blanket. Great color. And I’m glad you slept enough 🙂

    • and I just woke up from a two hour nap. It’s been a good Saturday. And Dog Hazel made sure I went outside at least a couple times, as is her job.

  2. I’ve been trying to catch up on your blog, because I work Monday to Saturday FULL day, and on Sunday I just want to wash my hair and sleep. I so wish I had both the days off, but this is how it’s going to be for 2 years 😦
I kinda guessed that if Priyanka and Nick would be getting married in India it would have to be in some palace in Rajasthan, to give the Americans a chance to see the big fat destination Indian wedding.

    • Yeah, “palace in Rajasthan” feels almost trite now, especially with everyone else getting married in Italy and places.

        • And it’s also at a palace in Jodhpur, which to me would be a destination wedding. Because it’s not where her family lives. But I think that is just me being middle-class and tied to a particular location, instead of understanding that for her family all of India (at least, north India) is equally their home.

Happy for each time you feel to get enough sleep & you’r happy about that…
Happy about you finding something that may make Hazel happy…
