Happy Saturday! I had such a good evening yesterday, Badhai Ho was wonderful and I had a nice drive there and back and got a good night’s sleep. Let’s see if the rest of the weekend lives up to the beginning!
Here’s a thing that’s been puzzling me: why do you think Aamir hasn’t tweeted anything about Badhai Ho despite it being an important film for his mentee Sanya Malhotra?

Another question! Who here is planning to watch the first episode of Koffee With Karan tomorrow night with Alia and Dips by hook or by crook?
Final (very important) question! What do we think of Dog Hazel’s new collar?

Bonus question: What do you think Dog Hazel should be for Halloween? And what are you/your kids going as?
Do you think Aamir resents Sanya for striking out on her own? That seems likely even though it would be super petty.
I’m not going to get to see Bhaddai Ho this weekend, sob. But I will be watching Aashiqui 2. Since Shraddha is in it I don’t have high hopes.

Its not great. But the music is wonderful. And you should watch daawat e ishq as a palate cleanser and to see why we are all in love with aditya after all.
I was thinking maybe asmir resents her, or just feels like if she wants to do it on her own, he will let her, no support at all.

I have to watch Aashiqui 2 for a podcast. Unfortunately, after watching the Judy Garland version of A Star is Born I’m realizing this whole plot is so not my thing at all but I’m committed and I still have to watch the Lady Gaga version.

Sometime, not necessarily for the podcast, you should check out the Amitabh-Jaya version Abhimaan. The ending is totally different, and the early days of their romance and marriage are adorable.

Just finished it and OMG HOW DOES SHRADDHA HAVE A CAREER???? She’s the worst actress I’ve ever seen in any industry. Dead eyes, no facial expressions, she couldn’t even tear a room up convincingly after her lover kills himself.
Aditya on the other hand 😍 He is so good looking and he played the role so well, though at no point in the film did he look like a late-stage alcoholic or even mildly hungover tbh.
Anywho, now I have to fit in the Lada Gaga version of this film and I’m not looking forward to it because the plot is so incredibly regressive. Men become emasculated by women’s successes. Women only succeed when a man anoints them, not through the woman’s hard work. Women are willing to throw away their success in order to stay loyal to a self-destructing man. A man would rather be dead than be less successful than a woman. Argh **hulk smash**

Shraddha has gotten measurably better, so that’s something. If you watch her more recent films, she has expressions and stuff. And Aditya is a delight in almost anything. If you want to see a really good performance as an addict, check him out as the hero’s friend in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. It’s legitimately disturbing because the film never directly acknowledges that he is an addict (sex, gambling, and alcohol), it’s just clearly there in his performance and character. And really, watch Daawat E Ishq!
I’m trying to think of a good version of the Star is Born plot for you. Not that you have to watch it now, just as a mental challenge for myself. Abhimaan is way different than the usual, but I think actually ends up being worse? RGV did a few interesting variations, Naach is a gender flipped version sort of (with Abhishek in the Judy Garland role, of all things). Masti kind of reverses the order and changes things around, a successful actress who wants a man (or someone) to love her for herself. And Main Madhuri Dixit Bana Chahta Hoon has the supportive husband as a nice friend from the village who is there for her start to finish. And then there’s Sultan, which is kind of a gender flipped version but not really. Oh, and Masti has one of my favorite songs!

I think Hazel’s new collar is very tasteful. The pink on was a little TOO pink.
AND, how do you watch K-with-K (which streaming service?)?

And I was wondering the same about KwK

Hopefully it is on Hotstar, They’ve got a section for KwK season 6, so that seems likely. Last season I had to go into the byways of the internet and find it quickly before it disappeared again.

Well that’s classy! Much better than denying it when the leaks are already out there.
