DeepVeer Wedding Photos!!! Shockingly, They Look Beautiful and Happy and In Love

I don’t know why we were/are all so obsessed with this.  What did we think was going to happen?  The photos would release and they would be, like, nude or in a slap fight or something?

Right, first the general run down on the wedding, based on the tiny tiny details that have been repeated ad nauseum by every source every where.

It was at Lake Como, the security was intense but so was the paparazzi.  A few very fuzzy photos by telephoto lens came out and everyone speculated wildly about what they showed.

The only actual details known are that it was 3 days worth of ceremonies.  First an engagement ceremony, then a Kannada style ceremony for Dips’ side, and then a Sindhi ceremony for Ranveer’s side.  I like that, much better than the mixed weddings I have been to when they try to cram it all into one ceremony with multiple officiants.  Although I suppose also much more expensive and exhausting, having to buy multiple dresses and so on.

And now they are married, yaaaay!  And released two official photos through their instagram accounts.

I have no idea which is from which ceremony.  If I had to make a wild guess, I would say the first is from Dips’ ceremony because I think the pearl strands around the head are a central/south thing?  And the second is from Ranveer’s because I KNOW the heavy gold chandelier like bracelets on the bride is a northern thing.

Anyway, what I really like is that Dips’ posted a photo that was very “Ranveer”, laughing and goofy.  And Ranveer posted a photo that was very “Deepika”, serious and intimate.  I know we don’t know these people and I am reading far too much into it, but it feels like Deepika posted the photo of her happiest moment and best memory, which was Ranveer being most himself.  And Ranveer posted a photo of his happiest moment and best memory which was Dips being most herself.  What made each of them happy was the other one, if that makes sense.

Also, the clothes are pretty and the jewelry is intense.

  1. You got that right. First is the Konkani wedding. The second the sindhi style one. They do look gorgeous, its hard not to see the love with these two. Surviving 6 years in this industry together in no joke, they deserve all the happiness in the world.

    • I love that they came together as adults with baggage and history. Doing my post earlier, it was really amazing, he went to America, worked in advertising, struggled for his first role, had his own minor public romance. And she had a badminton career, modeled, broke into film, had a messy public failed relationship, found herself as an actress. They weren’t kids when they first met, they had a lot of stuff behind them.

    • Yes, like Elizabeth Taylor modeling her first wedding dress after the dress she wore in Father of the Bride.

The Internet was sending around the photos from their on-screen wedding in Finding Fanny and pretending they were the real wedding photos. They weren’t that different actually, the clothes were wrong, but they looked smiling and in love just like in these.

  2. Didn’t you make a post a while back predicting that Deepika would get married after Padmavati? Good call! You thought that was the way an actresses’ career goes after such a big movie, if I remember correctly.

    • Yes, I am a genius! And with the timing, I wonder if she decided to take an extended vacation after Padmavat just so her wedding would be the next thing, instead of some misc. small film that she could have easily slipped in.

    • I love happy wedding photos! And I know they are professional actors and certainly capable of faking it, but they do seem really really happy, right?

  3. I loved the pics and was one of those refreshing their Instagrams many times since morning. I don’t know why I get so invested when two celebrities successful in their own right get married to each other. 😛 I really like Deepika and the way she’s handled her career. I told my boyfriend about their wedding and he just trolled me for being so invested. He asked me to wish them on his behalf as well since it seemed like they were clearly my friends. 😛 😛 Why do guys never get excited about such things! 😛

    • I know what you mean, my father had no interest/sympathy when my mother and I got up at 4am to watch the Royal Wedding.

  4. Sorry, posted too soon. I’m 3.5 hours ahead of India so the photos were theoretically coming out at 9:30 my time, but they kept pushing it back and I finally gave up and went to bed. ( I might be overly invested. But I am also an IU alum, so I’m pretty much related to Ranveer).

    • Oh oh! I can share with you my DREAM!!!! Dulquer Salmaan from the Malayalam industry went to Purdue. And some day, if his Hindi career takes off, he could end up at the same awards show as Ranveer Singh on a game day and there could be a massive grudge fight that only those few people in the world who follow both Indian film and Big Ten football would understand.

Bottom line, both cream and crimson and old gold and black would make excellent FilmFare outfits, should one wish to show their school pride at FilmFare prior to having a physical fight with your enemy.

Also, I think I was accepted to Indiana University, and I would have been in the same class as Ranveer and it is KILLING ME. I also missed out on Purdue and Dulquer, but I am okay with that.

      • I have literally had the same thought about Dulquer and Ranveer! Although not in as much detail. I Wikipediaed Dulquer at one point and thought, huh, wouldn’t it be funny if he met Ranveer?

Well, I mean, IU is a huge school. Chances are you wouldn’t have hung out with him even if you’d gone.

        • Oh good, it’s not just me that went “Hey! Purdue and IU grads in the same social circle! What could happen?” Especially with Ranveer, I could easily believe him throwing himself into the whole football culture and painting himself for games and the whole deal.

          • Isn’t IU more known to be a basketball school? I do remember that Ranveer is an NBA fan. In fact he went to the NBA all-star game a couple of years ago and he spent that entire night posting on twitter about it.

          • I just know about IU-Purdue football thanks to my Grandfather who is a Purdue grad and a football addict. Looks like IU basketball rivalry may be with Kentucky? But I don’t know if anyone famous went to Kentucky.

          • That’s makes sense since both IU and Kentucky are traditionally known for their powerhouse basketball programs. Honestly, I don’t know if anyone famous went to Kentucky either.

  5. They look so cute!!

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya did the same thing! The first day was a photo shoot and sangeet, the second day was the Hindu wedding, and the third day was the Christian wedding.

    • I guess it makes sense if you think about it in term of scheduling and so on, I just get confused at the idea of being in this in between state of married-but-not-married for 3 days. Oh! Movie plot idea!!!! Something with one of these 3-4 day series of ceremonies, the bride is late and her cousin or someone is secretly her stand in for the first ceremony, but then she is there for the second, who has he really married? And of course the cousin is nice and all that and the bride is selfish and demanding and it ends with him picking the cousin and declaring she is “really” his wife and the first ceremony is the one that counted.

        • Oh oh! Double swap! There’s 3 ceremonies, and both the bride and the groom keep swapping in other people. Eventually the groom falls in love with someone else, the bride falls in love with someone else, and there’s a 3rd entirely different couple that also fall in love through all the swapping of the couples for all the ceremonies.

          • Yup! That sounds really fun!

Actually there’s a Telugu rom-com called Chandamama that’s kinda similar to this. Kajal’s in love with one guy but she’s supposed to marry another guy. Then her sister falls in love with the guy that she’s supposed to marry so all four people scheme together to get married to people they want to be with. It’s a pretty fun movie from what I remember.
