I both very much enjoy this movie, and also think it is one of the better movies of recent times. And I hope some of you feel the same way and are excited about this review!
Chennai Express! It’s on Netflix, and I think youtube too. Fair warning, it has a very strange pacing, the intermission is at a weird place and there is only one song in the whole first half and then 3 in the second. Also, there are a TON of in jokes, including a couple of great Antakshari games. Oh, and a lot of jokes about North versus South India too. So, many reasons to be turned off.
But on the other hand, it is Shahrukh playing a character that actually makes sense for him, 40 and still single because he is flawed and immature and so on. They aren’t dancing around the age thing or trying to pretend it is “normal”. And Deepika turns in a great performance playing what could have been just a “simple village girl” kind of part but instead feels more than that. Oh, and Kattappa from Bahubali plays Dips’ father!
And the sound track is really great (once the songs start).
`
That was Kattappa? I’m going to have to watch it again.
