Happy Saturday! No new movie last night, instead I stayed up late finishing my Joseph review (such a pain to find that movie, but worth the hunt and all the internet issues). And today I have a surprisingly busy day.

After our first class (so exciting!), I rush off to my last accupuncture appointment. I don’t know if it made any difference in the long term, but in the short term it made me feel happier and more alive every Saturday during the depths of winter so that was worth it. And now it is sunny out, and I don’t need it any more.
And then I come home and rush around a little because PEOPLE! People are coming to my house! People never come to my house! I washed my slipcovers already, now I have to put them back on the sofa and generally tidy and dust a little and put out snacks.
Biggest question of course is: What movie to watch???
Tonight will be a nice couple who has only seen K3G, and also one of my oldest friends who has been coming to movie nights for 10 years. What can bring them together?
Right now, I feel like my top picks are either Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga, because it is a nice old-fashioned style film like K3G, but also a new release so my friend hasn’t seen it yet.
Or Daawat E Ishq because Aditya is in it and it’s kind of Passover themed, all that food and about a religious minority within a country. Also my friend hasn’t seen it, and it is a big happy family film.
Actually, they are both really short movies, I could always float a double bill! What do you think?
Oh, and additional question for those of you who have now seen Kalank: I am going to write a better version tomorrow, I’ve already decided no Partition violence and a happy ending, and a lot more focus on Aditya. What else do you think would make the film better?
For the couple who has only seen K3G I feel like they deserve to see a more recent “best” of as a second intro to Indian cinema right? To keep them interested?
I’d choose:
Queen
Andhadhun
Dangal
Gully Boy (just saw its on Prime!)
These are all fun to rewatch too!

That’s what I was going to do last time they came over! I offered all kinds of newer options, and they requested a classic family romance type movie.
On the other hand, very very glad to hear Gully Boy is on Prime!

Oh! Rab Ne! I’ve always had good luck showing that one, it’s such a sweet story and the songs are good and all of that.

Try to show them both movies.

That is tempting! If we start as soon as people arrive, I could squeeze it in. And Daawat E Ishq has a slow opening so it won’t matter if people are late.

Two films in one night is a big ask. Play your first pick first and if they have had enough at least they have seen that.

It worked out, the nice couple had a babysitting deadline and were all apologetic, I said no problem, and we ended up watching Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga which was perfect. They liked it, and my friend hadn’t seen it and was excited.
