The matched set with our “most beautiful actresses” post! Which doesn’t mean you have to stop commenting on that one, if I get enough votes I’ll do a “People’s Choice”. Vote now if you want Sridevi and Parveen Babi to be included!
When I say “beautiful”, I mean an arresting face, one I could stare out for hours. Not simple proportionality, but something extra. This was going to be an easy post for me, and then I decided I had to do SOME kind of a challenge and at least let there be a tie.

This made me cackle! SHASHI & KUNAL 4 EVA. Both of them have had me slack-jawed watching them in films. They are stupefyingly handsome but also radiate intelligence in their eyes. Siiiiiiiiigh.
But I will say, no Amitabh? Because he was pretty damned handsome back in the 70s.

Oh sure, he was handsome enough. But was he beautiful? I don’t think so.

He looks quite distinguished in Guru.
Siddhartha
Boy-band cute in RDB.
I just watched Leila last weekend, the Deepa Mehta directed Netflix series about a dystopian totalitarian future based on a distorted Hindu extremism. Think India’s Handmaid’s Tale. Anyways, holy moses, batman! Siddhartha now looks like Cary Grant but with Gregory Peck’s slimness and high cheekbones. You could cut glass with those cheekbones! Very good looking option for those that like the skinny chiseled sort of guys.
Fawad Khan… Only when he’s carrying a little weight, like in Hunsafar or ADHM. Else I find him too metrosexual.

I should clarify… Leila stars Huma Qureishi, Siddhartha, and Rahul Khanna (who is also very handsome).

Maddy in every era, in every industry. Just depends movie to movie. Instead of era, I’d go by size, since he varies his weight a lot.
Midsize Maddy >
Larger Maddy >>>
Skinny Maddy
Skinny Maddy is almost unrecognizable, completely loses his Maddyness.
P.S. I first discovered Maddy in Ramji Londonwalla (sp?), which I saw in theaters when it came out. And I just discovered that it’s on Netflix/Amazon now!

There’s nowhere near the same embarrassment of choices with the men as with the lovely ladies of Hindi films. So much so, that I really have only 2 picks – the brothers Kapoor. 🙂

You are so right, Margaret; handsome and beautiful are two different things. SRK and Prabhas fit into neither category but OMG, are they both!
I don’t care for pretty men. Arjun Rampal leaves me cold. Now Arjun Kapoor…Yum!
Maddy is lovely. But when he loses the Pillsbury Doughboy cheeks, that’s MY Maddy.
I’m with Angie on Vidyut Jammwal altho his face hasn’t aged as well as his acting (Junglee). His body is still aces.
Never was on the Shashi bandwagon but the young Dharmendra was dreamy.
John Abraham squeaks by as beautiful in a macho way, and my new fave, Vujay Sathupathi, as macho in a beautiful way.

I agree with Reflects of life about Maddy. I didn’t include him in my list because he is so hard to put in one category. And I also think he looks the best, not in movies but in candid photos, and in real life (let’s hope one day I will be able to check it). when I see his professional photoshoots I’m like: handsome. And when I see his candid pics with his son, or other people, or just simple selfies I can’t take my eyes of him. e.g this pic. I lost count for how long I have been staring at it

Oh also, for some reason I did not think early Salman was very attractive. I still enjoyed his films but Salman became attractive to me around the late 90s, specifically around the Hum Saath Saath Hai time period.

Whispy short hair is so much better than the weird mullet in MPK and HAHK. And that that just before he was balding to the point that he needed hair plugs if he wanted to continue being a hero (i.e. Salman in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke). To me HSSH was the most natural good looking hair on him.

Sid in SOTY and Sid in Hassee to Phasee was just breathtakingly beautiful. I feel like he did something to his jawline in those movies because it looks so different now. He is still very handsome but he was striking in those movies.

I know someone in real life who went through that. Age 16 to 26, he was stop traffic, strange women giving him their phone number, kind of handsome. And then after age 26, something shifted slightly and now he is still someone you would look at twice as you walked by, but not that shocking kind of handsome. Worked out for him, because he got married around 26 and has kids and stuff, so it’s not like he needs to stop traffic any more. But it was fascinating to watch and try to figure out what changed.

Very interesting. I just assumed Sid got his jawline contoured with fillers (very easy to do) while he was modeling and during his first couple films and then wasn’t required to by the directors in his other movies so stopped.

Oh and I think he got it done for the Rishi portions of A Gentleman. There is a distint jaw line different between Rishi and Gaurav.
