Immigration Post: Is This Why I Had So Few Comments Today?

This was the slowest day for comments I have had since, like, I started the blog! And I have decided it is because all of my regular readers and commentators are good people who were off at the national immigration enforcement protests this weekend. Don’t know if that is true, but I choose to believe it because it makes me feel better as a blogger and as a person.

I did not go to a protest. Although my parents went to a vigil outside a holding place last night (we are out in the boonies, so no big protest today, but a big federal prison-like place nearby). I stayed home with the dog ready to bail them out as needed. Which wasn’t needed, but I feel like if it was, Albie Dog is so cute he would probably be helpful in convincing the nice jail people to let them go.

Anyway, if you went to a vigil or a protest already, or are doing something tomorrow, or went through ICE response training, or anything else, then this is for you:

  1. My mom saw a Border Security (that’s what it said on the side) van blocking a road and haphazardly parked slanted in the middle of the road around 2 PM. (Northern NJ). She called to tell me and I raced down to see for myself and take pics but it was gone by the time I got there. At the time, I had assumed the raids were supposed to start on Sunday. I tried to find information and it seems the raids did start in NYC around 2 PM Saturday earlier than expected. I wish I could figure out what happened but there seems to be no info available.
