If Hindi film is going to torture me with ten million flagwaving movies, I am going to fight back by honestly talking about how some characters would just be better off overseas.
I’m already limiting this down a bit to only a few characters. And then you pick between them, who would you send overseas? Oh, and if there is someone else you think should have left India, feel free to add them!
Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman-smart ambitious energetic, he could do very well overseas, one of those types who starts with nothing and ends up with an empire.

Baazigar-if he doesn’t die, he really needs to leave the country

Darr-ditto

Yes Boss-he will never get the chances he deserves trapped in Indian society, let him go overseas and live his dreams there with the support of his charming wife and loving mother.
Dil To Pagal Hai-He really needs to move to Vegas and open his show there.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham-He’s built a nice life for himself in England, does he really want to go home again and just be his father’s son?

Jab Harry Met Sejal-Do we really think Harry will be happy back home forever?

So, who do you think will stay overseas?
I’m going to choose Amar from Dil Se. He and Meghna should have run away to the Upper Midwest, gotten some good therapy, and had a happy life with their 8 children.
Raju needs to stay in India to stay grounded, and Juhi’s dad would be too sad if she left. I think Harry will be very happy indeed in India. Sejal will make enough as a lawyer and Harry as an author that they’ll be able to take a faboo trip abroad every couple of years.

I didn’t have a strong feeling about them. I think they’ll do well either in India or abroad. As long as they take Reema with them and settle somewhere with a big desi population. (RIP, Reema.)

Hmm.
Well, speaking of strong feelings, I couldn’t resist putting up another Marry-Sex-Kill post, so hope over there and think deeply over whether Devdas deserves to live.

I’m there now! Paranoid because I keep having to scroll up and down to remind myself of all the choices and I know my office mates are judging me. Too bad!

I think Buua Singh should have left India much earlier. He needed to distance himself from his family, maybe find a job, do something with his life.

Excellent point. He really flourished in America in a way he didn’t anywhere in India.
