2010 Week: Best Party Songs of 2010, Ranked

I considered “Best Item Songs”, but that’s really just “Sheila” versus “Munni Badnaam” and there is only one clear answer there (“Sheila”). So these are all the party songs, including Item Songs, that I think are worthy of remembering from 2010.

“Sheila Ki Jawani” from Tees Maar Khan, obviously the best party song of the year

“Parda” from Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, which is technically an RD Burman remix, and therefore obviously second best.

“Munni Badnaam Hui” from Dabangg. A little too repetitive for me, but then that’s kind of what you want from a party song.

“Ainvayi Ainvayi” from Band Baaja Baarat, the song itself is not as good, but the video shows the best party of them all.

“Gal Mitthi Mitthi” from Aisha, this is the song that Sonam’s friends surprised her with at her wedding reception, and it is super catchy.

“Maiyya Yashoda”, got to have some AR Rahman here.

“I Hate Luv Storys” which has terrible lyrics, but a crazy catchy hook.

“Dil Khol Ke Let’s Rock” from We Are Family. A completely forgotten movie and song, but it’s Elvis and Kajol! How could I not include it!

What do you think? What am I missing? What should be rearranged?

  1. I also really liked the Anjaana Anjaani title track back then!

Speaking of Aisha, I saw it again a couple months ago and I liked it. It was kind of boring and silly at times but it really was a good role for Sonam.

    • I’m ashamed to say I still haven’t seen Aisha, and it seems like the kind of movie I would like. I have no shame in saying I still haven’t seen Anjaana Anjaani.

I have to admit that I’ve liked Anjaana Anjaani and I thought it was a fun enough rom-com. But it’s not a great movie and the two leads are pretty selfish. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

  2. AINVAYI AINVAYI. What a jam. One of my instant energy booster songs. I would put it at the top.
And I have to disagree with you, while the video for Sheila is better, I like Munni better as a song.
