No fair saying “all of them”! You gotta be more specific than that. Also, I have to say I am loving these random discussion posts. As the various ones of us are stuck in house arrest (although actually I am free to do anything I want except go to my office, both legally and common sensically), it’s nice that we all kind bond with totally ludicrous discussion topics.
So you are watching a movie, and our hero is noble and just and right and handsome and all those things, and yet you find the villain somehow more…uff. What movie is that and what villain????
Just to get the ball rolling, can we all agree that grey-haired Rana in Bahubali was, like, sex on a stick?
Sid M in A Gentleman was great, but Suniel Shetty? With the hip facial hair and mature confidence?
And finally, thanks to Angie reminding me, let us have a moment for Sudheer Babu in Baaghi 1
Okay, who are YOUR hottest villains????
EWW! That Sudheer Babu is a complete turn off. I generally find all these steroid pumped men with huge breasts off-putting, but this guy’s moobs are something else! 😦
I do agree about Rana (though I don’t think he overshadowed Prabhas in Bahubali).
Also, I’ve forgotten the name of the actor now (shocking), but the guy who played the chief terrorist in Tiger Zindai Hai was quite sexy, in addition to being a very good actor.

Normally Sudheer Babu wouldn’t be all that for me, but compared to Tiger? He was charismatic and powerful and his body looked so much more natural than Tiger’s.

Ranveer and Jim in Padmaavat, Rana in Bahubali definitely. Danny Denzongpa and Ranjeet maybe not always hotter, but as hot. Dude who played Tiger in Sharmilee.
I’ve thought about this a lot.

I was stumped trying to think of a love triangle example, one where you think “man, she should have married the other guy!”

The love triangles are always so awful though. Let me think.

The only one I can think of is Chandni, but not only should she not have married Rishi, she should have let me travel into the film so I could have bludgeoned him to death.

But he was sad! He was crippled in a terrible rose petal helicopter accident! Until he suddenly decided not to be crippled….
On the distaff side, just remembered JTHJ. Anushka, so much sexier than Kat. Not always the case, but definitely the case in that movie (see recent post on crying and sorrow and sexiness)

You know who was sad? I was, until I stopped watching that movie.
Haven’t seen JTHJ, and I think I just never watch love triangles.

Well, unless you count Jim-Ranveer-Dips as a love triangle in Padmavaat, and I don’t know why you shouldn’t.

I guess they are. Nobody gets anybody in that triangle, which makes it better I think.

If I’m getting this right, we’re only supposed to consider movies with both hero and villain and not movies with villain protagonist?
Well, then I can’t think of a hindi movie where the villain is hotter than the hero.
From Bengali, I can think of a few.
1. Soumitra Chatterjee played the bad guy in Jhinder Bondi and looked hotter than the ultimate hottie Uttam Kumar. No mean feat. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/photo/64958950.cms
2.Uttam Kumar himself in ‘Baghbondi Khela’. There was a younger hero ostensibly playing his son but who cares about him when Uttam Kumar is being all sexy and evil.
3. Jissu Sengupta in Zulfikar. I love this kind of wily, calculating, manipulative characters.
English
1. Loki in Marvel Universe. Hotter than any other character, heroic or otherwise.
There are so many others but mostly in tv shows and am not sure if I could include them.

Now I am trying to think of a straight up villain role for Shashi just to show you there is one hotter villain than hero! No luck. Deewar maybe? But he’s not a “villain”, just a different kind of hero. Junoon?

In Deewar, he’s definitely the hero. Just misguided and audience sympathy goes to the anti-hero, his brother.
I don’t think Junoon works either as he’s the villain protagonist. There’s no other male lead. Naseer is a supporting character and is also flawed.
BTW, I’d be much obliged if you could remember a movie Shashi straight up plays the villain. I’d love to see that. Heat and Dust comes close but even then, there’s no other hero.

Maybe Shashi was just too Shashi-riffic for anyone to ever feel like making him a villain?

While I do think that he always played up the innate Shashiness in most of his commercial ventures, Shashi definitely was good enough actor to disguise his innate Shashiness for a character when it was required. He brilliantly pulled off the obsessed yet conflicted Pathan in Junoon or the manipulative, wily Karan Singh with hidden layers in Kalyug or even the cool, mysterious Nawab in Heat and Dust.

I’m almost afraid to list this because it’s obvious but – the first part of Deewana (before SRK) Mohnish Bahl AND Amrish Puri were both so, so, so much sexier than Rishi.

Oh yes! Almost any more where Mohnish Behl plays the villain, he dominates over the hero,

Vikram in the Tamil version of the Raavanan movie. So hot! So brooding! Though technically he is the anti-hero/villain I am counting him in this. The scene below just oozes hotness!
Sudeep in Eega, Rana from the Baahubali’s, Saif Ali Khan from Omkara, Arjun Rampal from OSO (even if he does look a little silly) and Dil Ka Rishta (in any other movie he would be the villain straight up so I am including him here), Ranveer and Jim from Padmaavat and Tabu from Andhadhun.

Yes SUDEEP! Adding on Sudeep in Puli, which I have just watched, because OMG he is so much more attractive than Vijay in that.

Yes for Sudeep in Eega.
Also there was this old tamil movie Majunu, I saw long time ago. The villain was Sonu Sood, and I don’t have to say that Prashanth is not Sonu. I haven’t seen other Sonu’s villain roles but I bet in majority of them he was better than the hero.
But the best example of Villain being 100 times better than hero is Savyasachi. I don’t know why Naga even came on set.

Oh my gosh yes Savyasachi!
And Sonu Sood in pretty much anything. Check out R….Rajkumar if you haven’t yet.

Jim Sarbh in Raabta. And it wasn’t versus a protagonist, but even in Made in Heaven I wanted him and Kalki together, even though I wasn’t supposed to. I thought Arjun was super sexy in Ishaqzaade where he basically was evil most of the movie, and I’ve never thought he was sexy since.

Dharmendra in Ayee Milan in Bela. Hero was Rajendra Kumar – do I even need to explain this one?
Shammi Kapoor in Memsaab. Kishore Kumar was the hero – again, don’t think this requires any explanation.
Amitabh Bachchan in Parwana (Navin Nischol as the hero) and Gehri Chaal (Jeetendra = hero) – yet another no contest.
Ranjeet in most of his movies.

I’m going to go ahead and name some women first given that it’s bad girls month. Priyanka in Aitraaz, Karisma in Andaz. You know I love Juhi but Karisma’s does negative characters better than most other actresses. There is just a great vulnerability about her that comes through even in the “bad” roles. Now, just to give Juhi her fair share, her character in Gulaag Gang. She’s up against Madhuri and she stole the show.
Okay now onto men, Vidyut Jamwal in Force. It’s really tough to go against John Abraham and look hot as a villain.
Not exactly a full on villain but Neil Nitin Mukesh in Saaho. Again hard to go against Prabhas and still be hot and he managed. Also, completely agree with you on Rana in Bahubali.

Agree about Karisma, I love her in the second half of Jaanwar, angry and broken and bitter.
Poor NNM. My friend Dina was the only one who whistled for him in the movie theater, you are the only one who found him hotter than Prabhas now. And he’s really quite good! I wonder why his career somehow flatlined?

I have no idea either. Also, thanks to your recent questions, I just realized that NNM is one of those weird people I really really like. I am not sure why, but in every movie that he is in, I find him interesting and pay attention to him (e.g., Players, Wazir, Prem Ratan dhan Payo). If you had not posed these questions, I don’t think I would have ever realized that and that would just be sad because he definitely needs fans!

He does need fans! I think I’ve felt vaguely sorry for NNM ever since years ago I read an interview with him about his new relationship and thought “oh buddy, you are so much into her than she is into you.” I think it was with Shreya Goshal, and then she broke up with him. Poor NNM.
