4 Mother’s Day Songs to Make You Laugh

Last year I did mother’s day movies to make you cry, but BLECH!!! Who needs that!!!! Lets look at songs to make you laugh.

I just rewatched Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan, and I still feel like somehow the balance is off with the “funny” homophobia. The stuff we are supposed to laugh at is legitimately disturbing. On the other hand, Dostana? Got funny homophobia PERFECTLY!

“Maa De Laadla”

Who has not been horribly horribly embarrassed by well-intentioned welcoming of your friends of your mother? While at the same time your friends just found it kind of funny and nice? To experience that vicariously, check out Saif in this scene!

“GUJJU”

Kirron again! That mother who is lovely and you love talking to her, but you also kind of understand that she might be a bit much for other people.

“Maa Ki Phone”

And finally, for those of you who are heartless and cynical like I am, there is the laugh fest that is the opening credits song for Amar Akbar Anthony when three brothers WHO DON’T KNOW THEY ARE BROTHERS, all give blood to the same blind beggar woman WHO THEY DON’T KNOW IS THEIR MOTHER. “Maa Sirf Naata Nahi”

There, are you smiling yet?

    • And the opening credits are 20 minutes into the film! After watching all the children being lost, and their mother blinded by a falling tree limb, then growing up separately unaware of each other’s existence. It’s a very gutsy movie.

  1. I would have thought Iā€™m as heartless and cynical as they come, but that melodramatic music really dampens the giggling impulse over three and a half minutes. I actually had to refresh it with a quick GUJJU repeat before I could quit this post. šŸ˜€
