Friday WatchAlong: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Kabhi Kabhi, or Main Khiladi Tu Anari

Quite the grab bag of options I have come up with this week! I’m not wedded to any of them, feel free to make suggestions. This is a movie for Deepti Naval’s birthday, a movie for Raakhee, and a movie for Saif.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Sunshine, friendship, happiness, and healing of heart wounds. Also, a very good small part for birthday girl Deepti Naval playing Farhan’s mother. Oh, and it’s on Netflix.

Kabhi Kabhi

Ridiculous delightful over the top YRF classic film. I usually don’t do movies from long ago because they are harder to get, and the prints vary so much they don’t really work well for watchalongs. But I confirmed, google play and youtube and Prime all have the same run time for this one! Oh, and it stars Raakhee, for her birthday.

Main Khiladi Tu Anari

Again, don’t like to go this old because of run time issues! But I think this one should be okay. And it is just so 90s. And so gay. And so 90s. Oh, and for Saif’s birthday! On Prime.

    • Yaaaaay, a Kabhi Kabhi vote! I do kind of want a group reaction to Amitabh’s total unutterable horibleness.

    • Boy, Kabhi Kabhi is getting more and more popular! I do want to see it with a group, there’s horrible Amitabh, awesome Shashi, and the debate over whether Rishi is really bad or just young.

        • But he didn’t care that his wife was in love with someone else before they got married! And he didn’t care that his son was in love with an adopted young woman! And he was good at The Sex!

  1. 1. MKTA because it is so much fun and so gay, and 2. Kabhi Kabhi because I cannot stand any of the characters in that movie besides Shashi, and it will be fun to be mean.

    • MKTA is SO GAY! And just generally a surprisingly fun clever movie. But then, Kabhi Kabhi has Shashi.
