Yaaaaay, Kabhi Kabhie! Shashi Kapoor being AWESOME, Raakhee being pretty good, everyone else being shades of terrible culminating in truly terrible Amitabh. The snark should be strong in us.
Kabhi Kabhie! Watch on Amazon Prime, or youtube, or googleplay, or DVD starting at 3pm Chicago time.
I will start the comments off at 3pm, and then you all pile on after me, right here.
No waythat window grate can be for safety. It is all part of the same house!

Out of all the houses, Amitabh’s is definitely the dullest looking, while Shashi’s just bursting with colour and interesting things…that’s surely saying something

in real life at this time, Rishi and Amitabh did not get along at all. Adds a little something to their scenes.
LikeLike
Do tell, why?
LikeLike
Because Rishi was a little brat, basically. Amitabh took his work really seriously, rehearsed and practiced and all that. Rishi showed up late and sometimes drunk, or sometimes just didn’t “feel like acting” or whatever. Really, I’m on Amitabh’s side here.

Why?
LikeLike
Different personalities, ages. Amitabh was serious and hardworking, Rishi was a little spoiled. A few years after this they worked on Amar Akbar Anthony together and became good friends, just had to find a way to meet in the middle.

I had the impression they always got along well

Ever since AAA they’ve been friends, so that’s just like 3 years that they didn’t get along. But this movie happened during the bad 3 years.

Why does Amitabh have shoulder patches?

I have an irrational love for 70s fashion (minus bellbottoms that I find a tripping disaster about to happen) and this movie is just fulfilling my eyes with delight one outfit after another

Rishi’s banjo was cold, so it got to wear his scarf. Earlier.

That completely makes sense

Yes! Humorous cartoons of the family and guests. Very unlike Amitabh, right?

They are unique. And very out of place in the boring house as a whole.

Must have been bought because of Sweety wanting them, no other explantion in-movie I can think of

I’m back. I’m back. Dinner scene – perfect timing. The biryani gentlemen were extra chatty today and also gave me additional delicious things on the side.

Anyone surprised that Amitabh’s bedroom arrangement has separate beds for himself and his wife? Or that Amitabh takes the far larger one?

That chair thing was supposed to be a bed? I did notice the bed backing, It doesn’t have a spot for handcuffs.

And here’s where Amitabh makes it clear to his wife that she only exists to be the mother of his child. Such a Prince he is!

I love this marriage! Starts with trying for sex, switches to being romantic, then laughter, then sincerely sharing worries of the heart. It’s what every marriage should be.

Okay, Rishi, actually flirting with this poor girl is so wrong! But I LOVE this song.

She’s a brat, no doubt. But leading her along and making her fall in love in him knowing he has no interest in her just feels cruel.

He liked his women in flowing white, but it’s actually a thing that started with Rishi’s Dad Raj Kapoor’s movies and Yash just picked it up.

Can Amitabh EVER think about someone’s feelings beyond himself? Is he just not capable of it? The whole long lost daughter-mother reunion is not primarily about you!
