This is all very exciting and last minute, the National Guard just opened up some mass vaccination centers in IL, and if I drive for 6 hours there and 6 hours back I could get a shot TOMORROW. So I took the slot, told my boss I was gonna be out of office, asked my parents to dogsit, and called my doctor to make sure she could give me a note to confirm I qualify under the new very very loose IL State restrictions. All of this in like the last hour. And then I thought “woops! I have to reschedule Friday watchalong!!!”
Right, watchalong at 7:30am on Saturday. I will possibly/probably be joining from bed. But it seems like a nice way to ease back into life post insane 12 hour driving day. And we are doing CHANDNI!!! Because it is happy and silly and pretty and has Sridevi and (most important) is on both Prime and Youtube in the exact same print and length.
A little before time I will put up a Watchalong post, and then at 7:30 I will put up an “And PLAY” comment, and then we all join in and start commenting along. Fun!
Congrats on the vaccination! Which one is it and will you need just one or two?

It’s all super confusing, but I THINK I am getting the Johnson and Johnson and therefore need only one. I hope so, because I don’t want to drive 6 hours there an dback a second time

I got both shots for Pfizer. It wasn’t too bad, just fatigue for a couple of days each time. But I hear ya regarding the driving time. Ugh.

I’m thinking of it as my donation to vaccine delivery systems. The state suuuuuuuuper messed up in where they shipped stuff, so I will drive downstate adn get a shot, and then come back to Chicago and be part of the herd immunity that is lagging because the city doesn’t have enough shots while downstate has too many.

YAY!!! I just got my first dose on Monday! It was SO exciting! I am hoping to be fully vaccinated before I come to Chicago. I really hope you are getting the J&J one because driving back and forth for 6 hours again sounds awful!

Funny thing, the largest most available vaccination center in all of IL is in the town my family is from. Exactly one year ago, like to the DAY, I was down there burying my aunt and saying good-bye to the family home of 100 years. I thought I wouldn’t be back maybe ever. And now I get to go back at least once, maybe twice. It’s kind of nice, I’ll get the shot and then visit relatives in the cemetery. And if I have to do a second shot, by golly I’m gonna find Aunt Angie! She’s in the cemetery somewhere but we don’t know where. (I mean, she’s dead, she’s not some poor old lady we left in the cemetery. But still would be good to find her).

I was completely prepared for mine to be a mistake too! I didn’t tell anyone about the appointment because I knew it would be canceled! I very much qualified based on the federal guidelines and the state criteria, and for additional precaution, I also had a doctor’s note, but I was still sure that it was a mistake and I would not get the shot.

I thought it was bad that I’m driving over two hours Monday to Peoria for my vaccine! A friend just helped me book it, and I’m willing to drive! Mine will be a two shot, so I’ll have another trip South in April. So glad you’re getting one!
