Oh my gosh, I am so tired. And hot. And not at all hungry, which probably means I am a wee bit dehydrated, since I haven’t eaten in 8 hours.
I did the watchalong this morning, than packed for about an hour and a half until there was really truly nothing left to pack. And then I went for a loooooooooooong air conditioned drive to get a hot dog for lunch.

And then I came back to my place and took proud pictures of everything I had done. Living room:

Kitchen:

Bedroom:

And then I waited around for my parents to arrive to help with the little bit of awkward things that needed 4 hands, and tried to nap but I couldn’t because the only place left to sit was the armchair. They arrived and, although I tried to steer them towards the low impact very specific things with which I needed help, no luck! They went right in on their own things.
My Dad reorganized all the boxes and furniture so it would be easier for the movies. And my Mom cleaned. I kept telling her not to clean because I don’t have a security deposit, but she said “yes, but it’s so unpleasant for the new people.” To which I pointed out that the building is almost definitely going to rehab the apartment before anyone moves in. Which got the response “but it would be so unpleasant for the builders! To work in a dirty place.” So then I gave up and just focused on loading up my car while they worked.
My Car Theory is that I keep in the back-back all the things that I need to survive. So if I end up camping out at my parents apartment after they have moved out, or at my place before my stuff has moved in, I can function. Somewhat surprising assortment of items!!!!!
Percelator and coffee grounds
Bag with good hairbrush, good razor, good moisterizer, good shampoo, good manicure set, good loofah (I’m picky).
Bag with 2 plates, 2 bowls, 2 sets of silverware, my Kuch Kuch Hota Hai thermos, and my SRK mug.
Bucket of Random Bathroom Stuff I May Need (feminine products, exfoliating cream, moisterizer sheets, all that fun stuff)
Bedroll

And, of course, my massive Veer-Zaara wall hanging rolled around Grandpa’s baseball bat. Between the two of them, I will always be safe.

Finished loading the car, back upstairs, my Mom is now packing up all the food in my kitchen because she just can’t STAND to throw away food, and planning to somehow squeeze it into their kitchen. My Dad is pulling nails out of the wall even though I told him not to because he thinks it looks better. And then, FINALLY, we do the one thing I really wanted, take the oversized pictures down to lay flat in the back of their car and be gently transported. After considering multiple options, I landed on the pictures going to Grandpa’s to sit on the guest bed until they have a home again.
I also moved my little bits of stuff into my bedroom at Mom and Dad’s. All my shoes, a few more clothes, dirty laundry of course (why deprive my mother of the joy of doing my laundry?) and finally, most importantly, this:

Happy for your success !

It was SO hot!!! The car thermometer said 88 degrees outside, but that was outside on the street. I am sure my 3rd floor apartment was at least 10 degrees hotter, 100 easy. I drank more water than I think I have ever drunken in one day in my entire life, and I was still dehydrated.

Oh yeah, it was in the 90s for sure and probably hotter than that if you were inside with no air conditioning.

Are you throwing away the couch?

Yep! My little dog has basically destroyed it. Well, not throwing away. The junk company I hired makes a commitment to take everything to a donation center if at all possible.

Good job. Read somewhere that the 3 most stressful times in life are when you lose a job, go thru a divorce, and MOVE!

And the horrible thing is, how often those 3 happen at the same time!!!!! I should be grateful I am just moving.

Wow! Congrats. No one has ever helped me clean when I’ve moved. I’m a little jealous.

To be fair, my Mom has never helped me before with the cleaning! although she has helped somehow in ever move, I think last time my Mom and Dad supervised the movers moving me in while I zipped back to the old place to clean.
