Saturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Catch Up on Marvel Movies!!!!

Apparently, I have to watch Thor Ragnorak! And the Ant-Men movies. So I am very VERY busy today. Also, it is soooooooooooooo nice not to have that little bit of “you could be packing” guilt.

Things to talk about!

Everyone who read Emily of Deep Valley with me, do you remember that it starts with Memorial Day? When it was still called and celebrated as Decoration Day?

Amazon.com: Emily of Deep Valley: A Deep Valley Book (9780062003300): Lovelace, Maud Hart: Books

If I say that I celebrated not having to pack by “sleeping until I woke up” this morning, does that make sense? I suspect it does, especially to my fellow dog owners, and parents. Sleeping until you wake up is HEAVEN.

A debate! If you can only pick one, Vishal-Shekhar or Yo Yo Honey Sing/Badshah?

I think I have to go with Vishal-Shekhar. Partly for nostalgia reasons (the soundtrack of my youth!) but also partly because they just have a broader range.

  1. Now it’s my turn to go ‘Nahiiiii…’!!!

How is this even a debate? I don’t believe any self-respecting person would pick YoYo-Badshah over Vishal-Shekhar, they’re not even on the same level! I’m going to say they are part of the reason of the downfall of film music in recent years, with their stupid rap and remix!

(Sorry, this brought out strong feelings!!)

    • THANK YOU! I know people said the same thing abotu Vishal-Shekhar back in the early 2000s, but they were WRONG. Vishal-Shekhar may not be classical, but the can do lots of stuff.

      • Does this mean I’m gonna change my mind about YoYo-Badshah in 10 years? No chance, unless they do something radically different! I don’t remember what people said about Vishal-Shekhar initially, but I took to their music right from the beginning. Age was also probably a big factor, as a teenager their songs were a blast to sing and dance to! And they hold up even today.

Side note – I just love Vishal’s vocals too. Have you heard this Coke Studio song? Amazing!

        • I got to see them LIVE! Which I thought was gonna be really boring because they are composers not singers, but instead it was AWESOME. They sung their own songs, and yes, their voices weren’t The Best in the World. But such energy!!!!

  2. Yes, sleeping until you wake up is one of the great simple pleasures. Today I mostly did but then I was rudely ousted from my lazing in bed time by two boys deciding to play goalie on my bed while I was still in it, then refusing to be wrestled into submission. They totally gang up on me now.

Then we went to a faraway mall that has many entertainment options and discovered, in an escape room, that the pandemic has not magically given our family great teamwork. There was much yelling and carrying on, but we did save the world in the end, so there’s that.

Wish I could join your Dus watchalong but I’ll be working Monday. Maybe I’ll come for the first half, while I’m enjoying my two cups of morning coffee.

    • When we were visiting my grandparents, which I now realize is probably one of the few times my Mom got to sleep until she woke up, around about 10am Poppie would have us drop theri dog in bed with her and roust her out. And of course Mother’s day, the opposite problem, when she was trapped in bed even if she wanted to get up until we had successfully achieved Breakfast In Bed for Mother’s Day.

The yelling and carrying on is the best part! Think how boring it would be if you could solve the problem perfectly on the first try. I also spent the day as a Family, but the most exciting thing we did was play Pooh Sticks over the bridge at the park. Adulthood is dull.

do come! I was going to say, you can guess the plot from the first half. But really, you can guess the plot from the opening credits. It’s not THAT deep.

  3. I just saw this short video and now I can’t stop thinking I desperately need Dhadkan 2 in which Shilpa is very disappointed with her husband Akshay because he started following some shady politicians and also has lost all his sexiness. One day he sees her ex boyfriend Sunil, now better looking then ever. Sex is in the air and she just can’t stay far from him. There must be many songs JTHJ Saans style and in the end Akshay must be arrested, so our love birds can be together.

    • After watching Dus yesterday, I am all about Shilpa being hot and confident in whatever way she wants.
