Challenging schedule this week! I am trying to coordinate meeting roofers (oooo!) for the new apartment on Friday afternoon. And on Saturday I have a 2 hour hardcore massage scheduled to get my shoulders fixed once and for all. Anyway, if we do a movie 7:30am to 10am, I am totally fine. So we need a movie that is 2 and a half hours or less, AND Pride themed (because it is June). A CHALLENGE!!!

Hi FilmiKudhi! See, I’m suggesting it! It’s one of those lovely Lesbian love stories where they are both in relationships with men but then they meet and, as the title says, “can’t think straight”. It’s a British rom-com with a desi cast, so I think it qualifies for us.

Lisa Haydon’s birthday is this week, and it can totally be read as a Lesbian love story, but on the other hand I think we aren’t quite ready to see it again yet, are we? Yeah, forget Queen.

So much gay in this one! And a little bit of bittersweetness too. And a lot of wackiness. If you are someone who has seen Luck By Chance and Gully Boy and Dil Dhadakne Do and Zindagi Na Milega Dobara and wants to complete the Zoya Collection, we can watch this!

How about Dedh Ishqiya. It’s only and hour and 48 minutes long. It is a dark comedy with a wacky premise – a widowed Begum needs to remarry so she decides to choose a mate via a poetry slam. As you do. And, if there is no clear cut winner in the iamb race, the contestants will have a shooting contest. After all, it is known that any poet worth his salt is a dead shot.. However, her maid/companion is her real soulmate and they have plans that do not include matrimony. It has Madhuri, looking positively radiant, and Naseeruddin Shah as a love struck suitor. Huma Qureshi, a woefully over looked talent, is the companion. Her scenes with Madhuri are very heartfelt – the caring is tangible. The movie is a sequel to Ishqiya but is lighter and, frankly, funnier.

Not trying to sway the decision-making process, but Dedh Ishquiya at 7:30 Saturday am Chicago time would, at the time of this writing, be totally doable for me. The movie is on Netflix Japan so I won’t have Einthusan issues and it will only be 9:30 pm here.
