Aan! It’s available for rent on Prime, or for free on Einthusan. Such fun!
At 8:30am Chicago time, I will put up a comment saying “and PLAY” and then we will all comment along.

It’s a Radha-Krishna reference. See comment below.

PALACE!!!!! And a car? Is this in present day after all?
LikeLike
Does everyone get the Radha-Krishna reference with this song? Nimmi is singing about how she hears basuri (Krishna’s instrument) for the first time (i.e. she’s in love with Dilip). And she obviously will not be the one that ends up with Dilip. Radha was never married to Krishna, that was Rukhmani (i.e., Nadira in this movie).

Thanks for the explanation! I didn’t have subtitles for the song.

You are welcome. It’s great foreshadowing.

I think it’s best not to think too hard about time periods when Fairy Tales are concerned. It’s all a hodgepodge anyway.

Literally every Govinda movie from the 90s where he plays a village oaf is a super diluted copy of this but with complicated dancing instead of structuralist imagery.
