Saturday WatchAlong: Aan! The Dilip Kumar Fairy Tale, 8:30am Chicago Time

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay, Fairy Tales! I love fairy tales. And this one has a noble poor boy and a proud princess and all kinds of things.

Aan! It’s available for rent on Prime, or for free on Einthusan. Such fun!

At 8:30am Chicago time, I will put up a comment saying “and PLAY” and then we will all comment along.

  1. Everyone here has seen The Court Jester, right? Because I suspect I will be thinking of it and giggling through out this whole movie.

  3. I’m already trying to make logic of the politics/historical time period of this film. STOP ME! It’s a fool’s game!

  4. We are all seeing and understanding the influences of this film on everything from Lagaan to Mother India to DDLJ, right? I don’t have to keep pointing it out?

  5. Does everyone get the Radha-Krishna reference with this song? Nimmi is singing about how she hears basuri (Krishna’s instrument) for the first time (i.e. she’s in love with Dilip). And she obviously will not be the one that ends up with Dilip. Radha was never married to Krishna, that was Rukhmani (i.e., Nadira in this movie).
