Hi! Sorry! Forgot to write this post last night so hurrying it out before the actual start time.

Pushpa! On Prime! Watch it with me! I’ll put up an “and PLAY” comment at 7:30am and we will go from there.

  1. 11yo: not liking this hero much. He’s supposed to be all tough but he just glares at the camera like those TikTokers who think they’re buff.

    I told him to wait.

  2. Wait, he didn’t tell the cops because they’re poor salarymen? The morals this plot is setting up are fascinating. Womanizing bad. Rich bad. Factionist bad.

  3. ALSO love the that the first thing he does when he has some physical sign of success is flaunt it in front of the family that has always scorned him.

  4. It really struck me that not only is he disrespected by family for being illegitimate, he is disrespected by the world for starting out as a simple laborer. And it struck me how my own culture is so different from others. Starting out as a simple laborer is a point of pride for Americans.

  5. This part where we get a quick sequence showing how he builds his business by being clever. Gangster movie trope. Ah, and enter the heroine.

  6. I never doubt the top cop – on the one hand the constant frown is like a characterature, but he is the role. And I suppose he is the only moral one in the movie.

    • Oh, this guy you’ll end up remembering. Remember his wife, SHE certainly stand out (I mean being female in this movie makes you stand out). So the dude with the chewing wife is the smuggler.

  7. Uff, the scenery, the mountains, the rivers. I feel terrible for the environmental destruction their wood smuggling causes, because that land sure is beautiful.

  8. The choice of red sandalwood as their contraband is kind of brilliant. Big red logs being transported and chucked about, very cinematic.
