First, dang it, youtube changed their embed rules so you may have to click through to youtube to see the songs and make an intelligent decision.

“Kuch Na Kaho” 1942: A Love Story

3. “Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua” Shree 420
4. “Tere Bina” Guru
5. “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin”
6. “Zara Zara” RHTDM (THIS WAS SO HARD! I think I just closed my eyes and picked at random)
7. “Tu Hi Re” Bombay
8. “Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Main” (Shashi version) (I hate Roop Tera Mastana. *shudders*)
9. “Pehla Pehla Pyar Hai” HAHK (…I think??)
10. “Kuch Na Kaho” 1942: A Love Story

I thought really hard about what to put up opposite DDLJ! I knew it had to be another SRK, and had to be equal but different in quality.

9. Kate Nahin (Mr. India) I love this song
10. MALARE of course but In my opinion it shouldn’t be here because it’s the Queen of all songs, above every rating or list.

You can’t not have an opinion! That’s the rule. You have to pick for 7.

1. Janam Janam (Dilwale)
2. Tujhe Dekha Toh (DDLJ) – This was a tough one but I went with this song since Dil Se Re is kinda depressing.
3. Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua (Shree 420)
4. Tere Bina (Guru) – I forgot how beautiful this video song is!
5. Little Little (Atrangi Re)
6. Saathiya (Saathiya) – This is a weird one because I love both the Tamil original versions more than the hindi ones but Saathiya gets the edge.
7. Pehla Nasha (Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander)
8. Roop Tera Mastana (Aradhana) – I think I’ve heard actors sing this song in movies more than I’ve heard the actual song before.
9. Kate Nahin (Mr. India)
10. Malare (Premam)

Finally someone picks Janam Janam! I thought it would be way more popular.

I mean I didn’t really like that song until I saw the movie and I doubt many people still remember Dilwale 🙂

A. R. Rahman dominates my chart. The Mozart of Madras is just hard to beat for me when it comes to love songs.

I was really tempted to do total Rahman and Burman. I think I ended up coming close to that anyway.

9. Pehla Pehla Pyar (this was a really hard decision to and I could easily be convinced to pick Kehte Hain).
10. Kuch Na Kaho.

You realize Pehla Pehle and Kate Nahin are tied? So yours could be the deciding vote that moves one instead of the other up to the next round? How confident are you in your decision?

1. In Lamhon Ke
2. Tujhe Dekha Toh (more of an emotional decision)
3. Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua

6. Saathiya (difficult as I like both quite a lot)
7. Pehla Nasha
8. Kabhi Kabhi
9. Pehla Pehla (this was more of music vs visuals because Kate Nahin is more visually arresting)

Everyone is emotionally picking Tujhe Dekho! Although I appreciate the honesty in acknowledging that Dil Se is just a better song.

I actually like Ho Gaya Hai better than Tujhe Dekha, that would’ve been a clear winner for me!

1. Janam Janam
2. Another emotional pick of Tujhe Dekho
3. Pyar Hua
4. Tere Bina
5. Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin
6. Zara Zara, also for sentimental reasons. YouTube suggested it to me when I was just getting into Indian movies and I played it a million times.
7. Tu Hi Re
8. Kabhi Kabhi, but this one was tough. I finally decided Roop Tera Mastana was too sexy to be romantic
9. Kate Nahin
10. Malare

Sheesh, first person to even consider Roop Tere!

Some tough choices…
1 – Janam Janam (so much to like in this song…the reminiscence of the Raj-Nargis song – no 3 here, the singer Arijiit, the situation in the movie, the longing…and SRK+Kajol, I may be one of those who really liked Dilwale – barring some stupid forced-funny parts.)
2 – Dil Se Re (I opted for intensity rather than nostalgia…one of my favourite SRK love songs – as Dil Se is one of my favourite SRK movies)
3 – Pyar Hua (the chaplinesque Raj, the rain, the umbrella…aaahhh 🙂 )
4 – Tere Bina (Abhi+Aish and the film Guru)
5 – Little Little
6 – Saathiya
7 – Pehla Nasha (sweet Aamir, cult song)
8 – Roop Tera Mastana (although I like Shashi Kapoor more than Rajesh Khanna, I liked the erotic tension more than the sweetness of the Shashi song)
9 – Pehla Pehla Pyar Hai
10 – Malare (what a beautiful love song…in every way!)

Your numbering confused me terribly, Margaret!
1. “Im Lamhon Ke Daaman Mein”
2. “Dil Se Re”
3. “Tera Yaar Hoon Main”
4. “Tu Wahan Main Wahan”
5. “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin”
6a. “Saathiya”
6b. “Pehla Nasha”
7. “Roop Tera Mastana” (I feel like I’m cheating on my girl Raakhee here, so in my defense I’ll say that “Kabhi Kabhi” is only romantic in context, whereas I have this YouTube link bookmarked as “Sex: The Song”)
8. “Pehla Pehla Pyar Hai”
10. “Malare”–I haven’t seen/heard this before and it’s really cute!

I’m going with “favorite” on each of these choices, because I feel like “Dil Se Re” is the better art, but I still prefer “Tujhe Dekha Tu”. So well done on that bracket.
1: “In Lamhon Ke Daaman Mein”
2: “Tujhe Dekha Tu”
3: “Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua”
4: “Tere Bina”

1. Janum Janum (In Lamhon Ke Daaman Mein always makes me laugh)
2. Tujhe Dekha Tu (I am shocked at the number of people picking Dil Se)
3. “Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua” (don’t get me wrong the longing looks in Tera Yaar Hoon Main were incredible, but still…)
4. Tere Bina
5. Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin – This one was super hard, but basically Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin won because if you don’t know the movie, you still understand everything from the video, you don’t really understand without the movie that Akshay is only in her mind.
6. Zara Zara
7. “Roop Tera Mastana” – dizzy circles beat tears
8. Kate Nahin
10. Malare is better but I know she’s his teacher and that just gives me an icky feeling.

Wait, so is your final pick Malare or Kuch Na Kaho?
