Happy Shashi Day! I am supposed to be off work early on Fridays, but I had to cover for co-workers so I ended up working until just now. I am sooooooooooo happy to be off work and goofing off with y’all instead.
Suhaag! It’s in different places all over the world! In America, it’s for rent on youtube. In Australia, apparently it is on Prime. And in Europe, it might be free on youtube? Anyway, Suhaag! 1979! With Shashi and Amitabh!
At 3pm Chicago time I will put up an “and Play” comment and we will all comment along from there, yaaaaaay!
Always so embarrassing when you start beating up somebody immediately upon meeting them without first checking that they are, in fact, the person you came to beat up. smh

You could make a decent drinking game out of this movie if you had one every time one of them touched the other.

Is this the movie with the brothel that isn’t really a brothel for reasons that don’t make sense?

Rekha is a “virtuous” dancer, if that’s what you mean. She has her reasons, later to be revealed, but they’re honestly not that elaborate.

I used to have a shirt in approximately the same cut that Amitabh is wearing. I mended it until it disintegrated. . . should have taken a pattern off of it and mass-produced them.

My version of the movie is way scratched during this song, which I think means the reel was played over and over again because the crowds loved this part.

Did they, like, just discover slow motion technology for fight scenes? There’s so much!

We used those Alladin’s lamp-type fancy pitchers to store cooking oil in when I was growing up. It always grosses me out for a second when people in the movies start drinking from them.

I am so glad for the 20-30 minute rule in old Hindi movies. Coming late and still, they have only just gone through the basics! Also, entered just as Rekha was introduced!

I love how done(TM) Rekha is with this situation. People always coming in, interrupting the music, and then having fist-fights!

This is not the only time that table is set for breakfast, and it always intrigues me. Do Nirupa and Shashi propose eating five slices of untoasted white bread each?

And Parveen, much though I enjoy her song, is not the world’s most compelling alternative love interest here.

Parveen will be coming in just a moment, but egg/sari scene no. I’m not sure what that would be.

I too remember that scene vividly. Is it Kaalia?

You have to keep in mind that Nirupa was saved by (as you pointed out) the world’s most convenient undercover policeman. It was important to her not just to raise a policeman, but a fancy-dress one whenever possible ( ;
