Happy Sunday!!! Really hoping everyone is done with their stupid vacations and stupid family time and stupid other things that are “more important” than an internet watchalong with people you haven’t met in person. But if you are still wasting your life on “real world human interactions” or whatever, that’s cool too! That’s what the 15 minute rule is for.
Bigil! It’s on Prime, it’s almost 3 hours long (so have snacks and coffee), and I am very excited to make y’all watch it so we can talk about Atlee and what his Jawan version of Shahrukh might be.

In a few minutes at 7am Chicago time I will put up an “And PLAY!” comment and we will all comment along from there! Yaaaaay!
Wait did he just take her out of the game because she’s pregnant?

Men SUCK. Okay, well men who force pregnant women not to do things suck.

On the other side, my sister’s boss referred to her maternity leave as her “long break”, which is also not good.

NO! Angel broke her promise. Damn, they should have let pregnant player play. Stupid slightly older adults. Stupid “thinking like a brother”

I’m thinking maybe it is a double bluff? At the last minute he will put her in anyway because No One is Stronger Than a Mother.

he he he – oh hell yeah, constant nausea makes you STRONG! They should have a player in the midst of chemo too – adversity makes you strong!

Oh interesting! Manipur, the Evil Team, is from the far Northwest near Nepal. I wonder if that is a nod to Jackie? His mother is from Kazakhstan which is why he has a Northwestern look, although he isn’t actually connected to the Northwest regions. Do they think we will be watching this going “wait, is Jackie’s character Northwestern?” and therefore accept the Manipur team as his home team?

Oh man, him yelling at the girls is lame. But then I guess directors are sometimes mean to their child actors to make them cry (Karan Johar KKHH), so it shouldn’t bother me?

Oh, so that’s how I get my wife to do better I just yell at her and stuff and toss insults. What do you all think of this plot device?

I am not fully on board with this movie’s brand of “feminism”.

Yeah, I’m curious how Atlee will mix with SRK. I think SRK has a much softer (while still slightly paternalistic) take on feminism.

Not great!!!! Although almost makes sense in terms of teaching them aggression and anger in sports. But the “Sattar Minute” speech in Chak De is way better.

There are definitely other ways to get anyone fired up, anger and insults is a quick and cheap way of doing it, but…

Oh yeah, forget feminism! In the end you win for TAMIL NADU!!!!!

So long as it is soccer-soccer-soccer again, I jumped over to Shahrukh’s Meer Foundation insta. They have partnered with a sustainable micro economic group, so their clients get set up to sell sustainable sanitary products door to door after finishing their medical treatment and rehab. They also have a monthly acid attack report counter, 12 in May, only 2 in June (with a disclaimer that most attacks go unreported)

Pregnant woman looks young enough to be her husband’s daughter.

See, a man has to be “well-established” before he can think about marriage, while I woman has to be “of marriagible age”. So, 35 marrying 20 seems about right.

My good friends and neighbors have a 30 year age gap, so I’m not usually bothered as much as others by huge age gaps, but still, it is noticable.

In general I have no issue, but any kind of societal norm of “this is what a relationship has to look like” makes me itchy.

Would there ever be a movie coming out of India where a woman would be in the coaches role, I doubt I would say action films with a woman in the role, would that be a correct assessment?

Student of the Year 2, female lesbian coach. But it’s not a “serious” sports movie, more of a silly film.

Thank you for the watch a long Margaret! They forgot to add in a wedding for Angel and Michael. The film seems unfinished, except it was very long to be unfinished. I think I am going to go back to sleep now.
Happy Sunday!

The only other thought I would add is, if you want to know more about soccer and a great story along with it, I highly recommend watching Ted Lasso. I learned a lot from that movie, but not everything. Certainly the only complaint, my wife made a good argument about this, is the women’s storylines seem to be based more on relationship than other things, but the acting, and especially the comedy and heartfelt sentiments are fantastic.
