Happy Tuesday! It was a three day weekend in America, so I skipped Monday questions on Monday and moved to today. More importantly, it is a SHAHRUKH RELEASE WEEK in America!!!!
Here is where you get to ask me anything you want from “why was there a three day weekend in America?” to “what do you mean Shahrukh release week?” Just keep swinging back here all week as you think of new questions!
Okay, now a question for you! What is your Jawan release day plan???
I’m doing something really silly and taking 4 hours off in the middle of the work day. I have phone calls scheduled until 6pm (blech!) and I really didn’t want to do a late show and then work the next day and all that. So instead, I’m doing the noon show and getting back in time for my afternoon work calls!

Jawan will not release in my tiny town. So I am going to write about what I would do IF I was in, say the Bay Area, where it is releasing. First, I would rent a hotel in the South Bay for two nights, where there is the largest population of Indians in the Bay Area. I would then buy a ticket for the 9:15 showing on the 6th (how can they release it before the 7th? is it because of international date times?) Incidentally these shows are almost sold out.
Since my head injury over a year ago I am much more in tune to other people’s emotions, it helps with recognizing people as my logic and memory are so slowed. This newer tuning of mine has significant pitfalls, but it means that when I am around joyful people I soak up all their joys and it is awesome. So that first showing I wouldn’t even try to follow the plot, I would just soak up all the emotions around me.
Then I would go to a daytime showing on the 7th to actually see the film. And then I would go to another showing that night to soak up emotions AND see the film at the same time. And then I would go home.
But what I will actually do on the 6th and 7th is sub for a Dual Language 1st grade class that is supposed to be 80% in Spanish and 20% in English. This will be interesting because I don’t speak Spanish! But I’m not scared of little kids speaking Spanish as my kids went through the program and there aren’t Spanish Speaking subs available. I will read the reviews of Jawan when I get home, and then wait for it to stream. 😦

Get one of the kids to show you how to illegally find Jawan streaming on the internet! And then you can do class in Hindi and English, which is still dual language, even if not the usual dual language.

I know everyone’s busy seeing SRK, but I saw Dreamgirl 2 and it was really fun! It has some major flaws, mainly that literally none of the sub plots get an ending, but it was definitely still the best of Ayushmann’s LGBT movies.

Good! Is our hero Queer in the end?

Do you count unaddressed homo-eroticism with his best friend?
I really need to rewatch Aunty No 1 because that does at least end with Govinda having sex with Kader Khan.

If I counted unaddressed best friend homoeroticism, every Indian movie would be Queer! Which is kind of Popka’s world, isn’t it?

That’s right!
To be fair, the movie does have a couple of queer characters but not the hero.

There are five cinemas in my area (with about half an hour to one hour driving one way) which screen Jawan tomorrow evening, but I opted for a more then 2 hours (one way) to watch it in the biggest IMAX in the world which – incidentally – is in Germany near Stuttgart. I treat myself with the first Indian movie that is shown there, Jawan, tomorrow at 8pm 🙂
To Naina: I think of you and wish you from the bottom of my heart that the good forces of the Universe are with you and treat you VERY kindly…and with the needed luck!

I am worried that I may have accidentally bought imax tickets! IMAX makes me really sick, and the theater where I have tickets is half regular and half IMAX.

I’ve taken Thursday and Friday off work hehe. The nearest cinema is hours away, so I’m going up to the city for a few days to make a holiday of it. Seeing it early on Thursday (woot no spoilers!) and then again Friday evening in a more fully packed theatre, and… yeah probably another time somewhere in there too. It’s my long-anticipated reward for knuckling down and getting through some new scary challenging boring adult stuff for the last few months and I am SO READY 😍

I mean, not that I wouldn’t be going tomorrow anyway, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a good feeling to have a reason to celebrate with it. I shall be ALL OF THE INDULGENT ALL WEEKEND!

Oh this sounds SO FUN! Congrats!!!! Also, you make me feel less crazy for taking 4 hours off work in the middle of the day.

Don’t worry I took time off and traveled to another country for Jawan. Half a day off is definitely not crazy 😉

On my way to watch Jawan with SRK warriors in a single screen theatre!

I was posting this during the Interval – So worth it traveling 22 hours to have this experience. The cheering and the shared experience!
