30 Days of SRK 16: 16 Professions I Would Like to See Him Play

Shahrukh really stays pretty basic in his professions. There’s engineer, Businessman, criminal….and that’s it. I guess also sometimes teacher and private detective and actor. Still, a whole WORLD of jobs out there for him!

Lawyer

Never played a lawyer! Really feels like he would have, but nope! I’d love to see him as either a sleazy attorney who turns good with that one case he cares about, or a crusading attorney who takes on a big case.

Construction Worker

I’m picturing the American fantasy version of this. Guy who works with his hands and can DO things, shows up to help out struggling single mother, they fall in love, etc.

Chef

I know he can’t cook, but I’d love to see him play the sort of tyrant genius chef in a fancy restaurant kind of thing. Terrifying to all the staff, but a sweetheart on the inside.

Doctor

I know he was a Psychiatrist in Dear Zindagi, but I want to see him play more of the heroic doctor type. Saving lives and things. Maybe falling in love with a co-worker.

Professor

He’s played a teacher (Chaahat), but never a professor. Like, the intellectual research focused type of professor. I want to see him try that.

Barista

Shahrukh as the wise man who runs the coffee shop for the kids! It’s perfect

Veteranarian

Picture taking your dog in for a check up and it’s SHAHRUKH! He could be the irascible type who likes animals better than humans and has a million pets and no friends.

Fashion Designer

This would be a bit of an inside joke since SRK is not that into clothes/fashion, but I think it could be fun. He’s the fashion designer who doesn’t care how he looks himself, no one thinks he is the mysterious reclusive genius. Oooo! Maybe he hires a glamorous woman to act as a front for his designs? Sush-SRK romances possibly?

Honest Politician

This is the part of Raees we didn’t get to see! He got elected, and then the movie ended. I want more! I want to see him picking on issues and pushing for changes and having open office hours and stuff.

Train Conductor

I just think this would be fun! Especially if it’s an over the top Rohit Shetty style action film. Shahrukh, the Hero Train Conductor.

Accountant

He’s been “businessman” a million times, but he’s usually the Boss. I want to see him as the humble accountant to a multinational company. Oooo, maybe he is accountant/whistleblower?

Farmer

I don’t think he’s ever played a farmer! It would be very outside his persona, but that could be fun, very Green Acres sort of thing. City man randomly inherits farm, hates it, then comes to love it.

Monster Hunter

It’s October! Of course I’m thinking of Monsters. And SRK would be a great “stranger who comes to town on the trail of the Great Beast” kind of thing.

Homemaker

Wife works, he stays home and takes care of the house and the kids. I would love to see this plot. Maybe something like, they lived overseas for the past 3 years and this was their arrangement, but now they are back in India and they have to keep explaining their lives to people.

Novelist

He’d be great at playing this, wouldn’t he? You can actually believe SRK as brilliant difficult artist type, because he IS a brilliant difficult artist type.

Servant

He came close in Yes Boss, but I don’t think he’s ever played a straight up Servant type. I’d love to see him as the loyal longtime houseman to a family. Ideally, with a slow burning romance with the daughter of the household even though it is Forbidden.

  1. As ShahRukh in an Atticus Fich role is one of my dreams, I would wish him to play a lawyer πŸ™‚ Professor would be good, too, although he already played a teacher in Chamatkar and Mohabbatein…

  2. My favorite idea is the servant idea, but I want the slow burn to be with the Matriarch’s widowed sister. And I want him to show how a servant can manipulate the lives of the ones they serve. Like maybe he knows the patriarch of the family is about to have an affair and he subtley sabatoges it. He knows a child in the family is unhappy with certain expectations, be they academic or sexual, and he helps the kid. ANd I waffle on if I want his power to be almost scary, or if he should be more of a sexual santa figure.

Wasn’t he a professor in Brahmastra?

And he was definitely a Chef in Duplicate. But NOT a tyrant genius chef, kinda the opposite of a tyrant chef.

    • Definitely sexy Santa Claus!!! Super rich modern urban family, he’s a new age kind of servant who knows how to use the Smart house tech and stuff. The previous servant of the family, old man who practically raised the patriarch, found SRK on the footpath when the Patriarch was just starting his career (parents died young, he opened a small computer shop that eventually became International SuperPower). Shahrukh deeply respected his foster father the previous servant and wants nothing more than to follow in his footsteps, supporting the family in a symbiotic relationship. The family loves and respects SRK, to the point that it’s a joke among their friends how powerful he is in the household. Family matriarch was a lowly clerk at the computer store, Patriarch fell in love with her, and they are united in growing success and wealth over the years. Child of the family had an arranged marriage to a daughter of another super wealthy family, he is hardworking and she is lovely and kind. But their son is a spoiled brat who thinks he is better than the servants and doesn’t have to listen to Shahrukh. And their daughter is seemingly a complete ditz who failed out of school overseas. And then yes, I like your idea, the matriarch has, let’s say, a much younger widowed cousin. The rest of her family is a bit traditional and doesn’t know what to do with her, the Matriarch and Patriarch immediately offer to take her from her small town to their mansion along with her two daughters. Which sets everything off because the grandkids are jealous of these new village children (one girl begs to apprentice at the office and immediately picks up business, the other girl is the kind of lovely traditional singer/dancer type that the daughter-in-law wishes her own tomboy daughter would be), the Matriarch and Patriarch start thinking about retiring and spending more time with family, perhaps focusing on education campaigns about widow remarriage, and the widow is restless and not as “sad” as she is supposed to be and starts challenging SRK’s control of the house and the kitchen because she feels like she should be doing something in return for all this generosity.

After a lot of confusion and misscommunication, including the city cousins rescuing their country cousins from kidnappers, it turns out that the spoiled son is actually a technical genius and is just really really bored with high school. Once they let him start developing and coding for the computer company, his restlessness and talking back and distracted behavior goes away. The “ditz” daughter actually really really likes digging in the dirt and growing things. She knew she couldn’t succeed at school, and didn’t have a talent for “classical” womanhood, and thought her parents wouldn’t allow her to be a farmer, so she reverted to “ditz” because that was all that was left. And the country cousins admit that although they like doing the things they have been doing with their uncle and aunt, they also would like to go to parties and have fun sometimes. Plus the Aunt and Uncle rediscover their honeymoon spark (I’m thinking Anil and Tabu for them), and in a deeply sexy scene, after lots of fights over how she isn’t comfortable giving orders and wants to do things for herself, the widowed cousin “orders” Shahrukh to kiss her to which he says “yes ma’am”.
