Good morning! Fair warning, I got, like, no sleep. The neighbors had a backyard party that lasted past 1am. So if I go silent for a few minutes, don’t panic! I just fell asleep at the keyboard.
At 7am Chicago time, I will put up an “And Play!” comment and we will all chat aling from there.
Chaahat is on Netflix, nice clean easy to stream copy.
Weirdly, I’ve seen many more meet-cutes in which one party runs into the other in a car than in which one party prevents the other one from being run over by a car.

Ok so the waiter friend’s the first real indication SRK gets of the “badness” of the city

Also the Shiv-Parvati symbolisms here! His mum is named Parvati, and he meets Pooja when she saves him while saving Shiva

And now I am going to irritatingly call out another reverse gender trope! The Good Doctor is such a classic option for the Fallen Woman. Will the Good Doctor save him, or will he fall to temptations and sell his body for money?

This is inspiring me to look up Pooja and see how she is doing. Oh! She just did Big Boss! I don’t know if that is a good sign or a bad sign? And apparently there are rumors Alia is her daughter not her sister? I don’t believe it largely because Alia really looks like her Mom when you see them standing next to each other. And also because I don’t think the Bhatt’s would have cared enough to hide a Pooja pregnancy, they would have just run with it.

One more Shiv-Parvati symbolism! I think the temple she went to was dedicated to Goddess Parvati, and she calls Roop “bhola” (innocent). Shiva is often called Bholenath

So Pooja also is inraptured by his physical beauty? But not in a creepy way like Ramya.

Oh ya and I think they’re drawn to his innocence too but for different reasons. Ramya to take advantage of him, Pooja because she finds him adorable and loveable.

And she also thinks that it’s meaningful/a sign to keep running across him, so he’s supposed to mean SOMETHING to her even if she’s divided as to what.

I think his style changes a bit after the title. Like once Pooja returns his love, he’s more comfortable in the city and it’s no longer so dangerous…but that won’t last long thanks to Ramya 😭

There’s a Tumblr that collects photos of vintage phones in Hindi movies. It’s surprisingly common for fancy business-type desks to have 3+ phones on them back in the day (ideally in contrasting colors/designs). Once I started noticing them, I couldn’t stop!

I love this. Back in the heyday of my fandom, when I was watching two or three Hindi movies with friends every Sunday, we were working on a theory of which color phone is allowed to call which other colors /styles. Great fun!
