Good morning! Fair warning, I got, like, no sleep. The neighbors had a backyard party that lasted past 1am. So if I go silent for a few minutes, don’t panic! I just fell asleep at the keyboard.
At 7am Chicago time, I will put up an “And Play!” comment and we will all chat aling from there.
Chaahat is on Netflix, nice clean easy to stream copy.
I take it back, I don’t like the Tatas! they have enough money, they can pay for Anupam’s operation at his hospital.

The Shiva picture on the sidewalk again but this time it’s Naseerji 😭

The irony is just painful 😖 The first time we see that picture it’s the person who he called “life” and the second time it’s the people who destroy everyone in the story.

Naseerji and SRK costarring roles: Naseerji plays a gangster ghost who mentors him, next film he is a Catholic priest who gives him advice, then this movie when he is trying to pimp him out, and then Main Hoon Na with him as Dad. And every time, they have great chemistry together! In all these very diverse films.

Marrying someone else seems like a really dramatic non-solution to think of right off the bat.

As I understand it from films, once you go through the marriage ceremony you automatically fall in love with your husband, so it all works out.

Ohhhh the story Pooja is telling is in the Ramayana. Shravan Kumar was so devoted to his parents he carried them on baskets that he held over his shoulder. Unfortunately in the Ramayana he dies because the future king Dasarath accidentally kills him, and his parents curse Dasarath that he will also suffer separation from his son…which comes true when Rama is exiled 🤧

Is it an homage that Mahesh is just ripping of Raj Kapoor and Awara? Or is it laziness assuming the youth of today have never seen Awara?
LikeLiked by 2 people
I mean, I could understand if the youth of the mid-’90s hadn’t seen “Aawaara,” but they would at least have seen the songs of “Aawaara.”

The post-blackmailing sequences are really good. I esp loved the bit where he speaks of the street artists as in a better position than him, and how SRK is basically sing his romantic dramatic song about Pooja. Coz they can take away everything else from him, but they can’t take away his thoughts.

Well, they clearly need better medical care back in the village, or Anupam & Co. would never have needed to go to Bombay in the first place.
