SRK Birthday Updates: Dunki Drop, Nice Wishes, and Midnight Greeting!

I have to actually do work-work today (boooooooo!) so there is no way I can keep up with all the birthday stuff coming out. I’ll hit the highlights in this post and trust y’all to keep it going in the comments!

Dunki First Teaser

We have a PLOT! Looks like a group of villagers working together to try to emigrate to England. Could be a fun setup, but I am nervous about the Hirani of it all. Because it could also easily turn preachy and simplistic and with a message like “Home is Where the Heart Is” repeated a million times. I am also a wee bit nervous because Shahrukh seems slightly more facial tic prone than usual, which is also a Hirani issue. His leads are all about the catch phrases and facial tics.

And the midnight greeting! Viral Biryani was there, of course, and got a nice shot of SRK with the chanting crowd in the background,

And finally, the usual nice wishes. I love that, not just for SRK but for all birthday movie stars. No one ever says anything bad on their birthdays, and it doesn’t feel like anyone is lying either. It’s just a day to think good thoughts and remember the good times and be positive.

(FYI, Saira had a late term miscarriage years and years ago when she and Dilip were first married, the damage from which made her unable to ever get pregnant again. So that first line has weight to it)

      • Yay!!!! I feel less mad now. I just did a mini celebration. The cake was too sweet for me. I ate some of a piece and put rest in the fridge. Maybe I’ll give it my cleaning lady day after tomorrow if she wants it. πŸ˜„πŸ˜‚

  3. I’m excited for Dunki. I feel like this will be my favorite of his trifecta this year. The cast looks really good. It could go goofy or cheesy but given what SRK has done in his other films this year it could also go to complicating the idea of home and what makes you want to stay or leave. While still being utterly charming and low-key breaking our hearts. Or maybe my expectations are too high, but this is the early anticipation part and I want to hope for the best πŸ™‚.

(Hi! it’s Emily, by the way. This new WordPress comment thing where you don’t leave your name is weirding me out, I feel invisible. Hope you had a good birthday day.)
