UPDATE: Last WatchAlong Until 2024! Weekend WatchAlong: Christmas Movie? The Archies? Something Else?

Happy Thursday! The last two weeks, I gave up my picking rights, but now I want to go back to having a Lively Discussion in which I have veto power (the veto power is very important).

Christmas Movie!

It’s CHRISTMAS!!! And there are so many Christmas movies that fit within the framework of Indian films! Family oriented, romantic, songs, etc. etc. etc. We watched White Christmas before, I am ALWAYS up for a re-watch of that. Meet Me in St. Louis has a classic Christmas sequence. Bundle of Joy is the remake of Bachelor Mother, lovely songs and technicolor. I suppose we could also watch Love Actually and talk about how Emma Thompson is The Greatest.

The Archies

Obviously, I need to watch the movie that is based on my favorite comic/by Zoya and Reema/features SRK’s daughter. And I am assuming y’all want to see it too!

Something Else

Something else? I’ve got holiday brain so I am sure I’ve forgotten something obvious.

  2. Unfortunately, my next few weeks are nuts and I am not sure when I’ll be able to join y’all for a watchalong. I can’t wait to sleep in the new year again! This weekend is Mr. Toddles’ birthday party, which means we are going to be around a whole bunch of 2 year olds. Oh Lordy!

Next weekend we have two holiday parties. And then Mr. Toddles’s daycare closes for 12 days until the new year!

Oh and husband has to go into work every day (besides Christmas and New Year’s Day) so I am going to be losing my mind.

I do want to watch Archies! But you all may get to it before I do!

    Wish me luck.

    • Baby 2 is less than 3 months old, right? So all she does is sleep. And Mr. Toddles is surely old enough to entertain himself now. Sit on the couch eating bonbons while the baby sleeps and Mr Toddles quietly plays on the floor and you watch The Archies. I see no problem here!

      • So I’m actually available Saturday evening after 6:30 pm CT/4:30 pm PT if that happens to work for others. If it ends up being Sunday morning, I’ll try my best to join for part of it but unfortunately, QueenB (aka B2) wakes up awfully early and stays awake for a while so weekend mornings are currently a bit chaotic!

  3. I can’t join this week but next week can we do Honeymoon Travels. I think it’s such a great watchalong movie with the complicated relationships, the slight sadness and Abhay Deol’s weird character.

  6. I would love to see the Archies. I didn’t realize it was available yet. But I can do a classic too. The only reason I’m available is because I’ve had Covid for 11 DAYS. I would have spent almost $100 on tests except that in truth we take them from the school system. It is a title 1 school, which means it gets federal funding (woo hoo poor community!) so really everyone’s tax dollars have paid for the tests, that have kept me and my spouse and two of my children out of school so that we don’t spread Covid. And because I have ONE CHILD that has NOT gotten the virus, we are scared to go anywhere, because he will get it, but when…. So yeah, we’re not going anywhere this weekend.

    • Perfect time to watch The Archies! My sister’s family just went through a COVID binge. By day 7, they had given up on Outside Clothes (versus Sleepy Clothes) and baths, and also cooking food instead of ordering it. So you can take all those steps, and also watch The Archies with us.

      • So I had tested negative the day before and two of my kids were negative so we said we would all go to a dance recital for a family friend. and on the WAY to the recital the one never sick member of the family said he felt ill, so we turned around and only three ended up going to to the recital. Good thing we didn’t visit the grandparents.
