Let’s do another one! This is fun! And Manoranjan is ALSO very very fun. And on Netflix! Woo!
Watch Manoranjan whenever you want before the 23rd, and then we can get together to discuss it on Zoom! It’s a very silly and socially anarchic comedy from the 70s, it’s got Zeenat Aman and Sanjeev Kumar and Shammi Kapoor, and it’s super super fun! Oh, and it should still be easily available thanks to SRK!
(Eagle Films is the company that has the rights to Manoranjan, and also to Shahrukh’s Chamatkar. So when he bought the library to get Chamatkar, Manoranjan came as a delightful bonus!)
I’ll be at a conference, but look forward to chatting on the post afterwards!

This is like a conference! It’s a virtual gathering of experts to share thoughts and opinions. Just tell everyone you have another panel you have to join 🙂

Also OSO used songs from Amrapali so he may have bought these films for rights then too?

Oooo, yes! I think Amrapali might be another Eagle Films? They have this crazy animated logo that’s very memorable, so you really notice when it’s one of their movies.

Yes it is!

Anyone here want to do a Netflix watch party to watch it together?

Not on Japanese Netlix, unfortunately, but it is on Einthusan, so I should be able to join if you all do it in the evening.
Incidentally Einthusan’s blurb says “A cop (Sanjeev Kumar) falls in love with a prostitute (Shammi Kapoor)” which I thought was awfully open minded for 1974 until I checked Wikipedia.

Oh man, that would have been a great movie!

Also I can do either Mar 22 or 23 in the afternoon PST. I have a slight preference for Friday, but can work with both.

Have we decided on Friday or Saturday yet? I want to make some plans for next weekend and don’t want to inadvertently double book myself

I would have to do later on Friday, like 8 Central. Or regular time on Saturday. I’ll put up another post!
