Happy Wednesday! I am soooooooooooo excited to have a 3 day weekend this week. I’ve gonna tackle Box Mountain in my front hall, mow the lawn, maybe sit down and do a whole puzzle start to finish.
I’ll start!
Reading: Is anyone else enjoying the insanity of the Bennifer coverage? I’ve getting multiple NEWS ALERT emails every day from People magazine about things like “No photos of them together in 47 days!” “Wedding rings visible!” “JLo ‘liked’ a post about bad relationships!” It’s almost Indian coverage-like in it’s obsession.
Watching: I have almost finished all of Babylon 5! It’s just so good. And remarkably romantic/relationship based.
Thinking: Somehow, I never seem to have food lately. I currently have fresh spinach, egg salad, and 4 eggs in my fridge. Which are technically all food, but I’m not sure how to combine them into a meal. I went to the grocery store this morning but froze when making a decision and ended up just getting more coffee.
Listening: Finally finished watching Eurovision last night! Did not like this years winner, but I did love the Croatia entry very very much.
Also, YES! I have opinions about the Netherlands being disqualified!
What are y’all watching and reading and listening to?
Have you ever read The End of the Affair ? I have heard so much about the novel, is it worth the hype?

I haven’t, but I know about it. If you do read it I will be interested in your reaction! Especially in comparison with Jab Tak Hain Jaan.

Gosh! I didn’t realise that. Jab Tak Hai Jaan is another level of foolishness. I hope the book isn’t like that.

From what I’ve read about the book, it’s Jab Tak Hain Jaan if there were actual REASONS behind actions.

The End of the Affair is great! Yes, reasons behind their actions and everyone is capable of crossing a street!

Hello! New reader here! Have you read “The Priory of the Orange Tree”? it’s young adult, and it’s quite good. It’s a feminist fantasy book. The prequel just came out.

I haven’t! Thanks for the suggestion!

I watched “8 am Metro” today and it was so beautiful. I was waiting 1 year for this film to appear somewhere in streaming and finally it’s here. It’s like Lunchbox , but better (and sadder) in my opinion. Gulshan Devaiah is so good, you just want to enter the movie and hug him. Recommended.

Watched: Bridgerton – Anyone else watch it?
Laapataa Ladies – The new Kiran Rao film and it’s delightful. Mostly new actors and they are all very good. Kind of a social satire but ultimately heartwarming, recommend it for everyone here.
Memsahib and Tumsa Nahin Dekha – I listen to the Filmi Ladies podcast where they are doing a Kapoor series and these are the movies covered for Shammi. I’m glad I watched these as I got to see young Shammi as a villain and the genesis of the Shammi persona as we know it. Also first time seeing Meena Kumari playing a fun, contemporary character. I feel you will appreciate this elaborate birthday party song for her puppy-
Deepika has been out and about and her baby bump is showing! I know it’s weird but I’m so happy for her. It’s just that she has talked about this for long and now it’s happening.

Yay! Laapata Ladies is SO GOOD and wholesome.
“Birthday song for a puppy” was not on my bingo list for Meena Kumari. Which of those movies is that from? (I only know the Bengali Memsahib).
I saw the Deepika video today! She’s so happy!

It’s Mem Sahib. It also has Kishore Kumar as a monk who has to be taught how to be a ‘gentleman’.
Yes, Deepika’s glowing!
