My Housemates’ wedding is 5 days! Tomorrow the first international house guest arrives, another one on Wednesday, and two more on Thursday. Yesterday one of the brides went to her last dress fitting with her Mom, while I drove the other bride around to get those vital last minute wedding needs: 42 bottles of Prosecco, gold spray paint, duct tape, and lightbulbs. My parents came over for dinner last night and went home with two huge boxes of table linens and orders to deliver them to the venue 2 hours in advance on the day (the 42 bottles of prosecco kill a lot of our car space). It has taken over our life to the point that when we were shopping yesterday and the store was extra crowded, I thought “of course, everyone has to do extra shopping in honor of the national holiday of Wedding Week”.
Here is where you can ask me anything you want from “what did you end up watching with your friends on Friday?” to “what is the lightbulb for?” Just keep swinging back here all week as you think of more questions!
Now, question for you! I want to do a playlist of Indian songs for my friends, what songs can you think of that are either good wedding songs OR good lesbian love songs?

Somehow I would have thought I could think of more wedding songs. I guess they usually happen at the end, when we’re already getting the end credits song instead. One of the songs in Bunty aur Babli had their private wedding, but I can’t find it at the moment.

Margaret did you hear that Karan has sold half of Dharma Productions to Adar Poonawalla? People was talking about it for weeks but only today they made it official. What do you think about it? What it means for us? On one hand I’m happy that Dharma will have more money now, but on the other I didn’t like the official statement because it made me think they will make stupid films for “digitally savvy consumers” and not romantic , colorful films we all need.

Hmm. I think it means that Karan’s run through his money. He hasn’t had a box office blockbuster for a while, I’m guessing most of the Dharma money came from streaming deals for the last little bit. He needed an infusion of catch to keep going. Hopefully he will flip the money into some interesting projects and this will be good for him, but I’m a little worried it might be the first step of a take over. Dharma’s unique value is that it has a physical plant, the studio buildings and so on. Serene productions probably has the money to invest, but no actual physical space. This could be a move to get the Dharma buildings and turn them into ad/streaming/TV production spaces where the money is more stable.
