New Shahrukh Movie Before January, THANK GOD!!! Also, some other stuff

I was alerted to this news story by moviemavengal‘s twitter, feed and it made me so happy!  And then to fluff up this post, I found some other random upcoming film news floating about the internet.

Most importantly, Gauri Shinde’s movie with Shahrukh is coming out October 2, for Gandhi’s birthday (I’m sure it’s just what he wanted).  This is the movie that is starring Alia and everyone has been very closed mouthed about it.  It’s a journey of a woman, there are multiple men in her life, that’s all we know (unless you know more than that, in which case tell me in the comments).

(“Oh boy!  A new SRK movie!  I hope he goes shirtless!  Happy Birthday to ME!”)

Naturally, there has been a lot of concern that it would be a romance between Alia and SRK, which would be horrible because Alia is a baby and Shahrukh is a grown-up, but the director has been floating comments about it being a “different” kind of relationship, and making it clear that Alia is the lead and Shahrukh is just a side-character.  So it could be a romance, like Shinde’s husband’s Cheeni Kum, where the age difference is acknowledged but then Shahrukh is written out.  Or it could be an important Friendly Appearance, like Amitabh in English/Vinglish.  Or he could be a supporting character, Alia’s favorite professor in college or something who inspires her to change her life.  I am fine with any of those options, so long as I don’t have to wait all the way until Raees comes out in January for my next SRK on the big screen fix.

Let’s see, what else is happening?  Sanjay is back to work.  He isn’t doing a film yet, but he did shoot an ad with small children looking cute (both he and the children).  And he is supposedly in training for the Siddharth Anand (director of Bang Bang) movie, that MIGHT be a remake of Rambo.  If Salman is doing Rocky, I would LOVE for Sanju Baba to do Rambo.

(Cute!)

Let’s see, what else?  Someone is suing Ajay Devgn for hurting religious sentiments, but that’s not even really news, it’s just what happens whenever you have a big release coming out.  I’m sure he will pay them off and it will go away.

(See, the picture to the left shows him climbing Shiva’s face with shoes on, thus offending religious sentiments of this one guy who filed a report on it)

And Sonam is being, how shall I say this, slightly gleeful?  At the expense of Aish.  I love it that they have this annual little jockeying for position at Cannes!  Remember a few years back when she mentioned asking “Aunty Aishwarya” for advice?  Because “She is my elder, after all.”

This year, I am hearing Sonam’s remarks being spun as “supportive”, but really?  She is talking about Aish’s infamous purple lipstick look.

Here are the quotes from Sonam so you can judge for yourself how “supportive” they are:

“The whole idea of fashion and make-up is for people to discuss it and I guess she wanted to be discussed. She achieved what she wanted to achieve with it, which I think is great,”

When told that Aishwarya has called it L’Oreal’s prerogative, Sonam, 30, quipped, “I don’t think she walked for L’Oreal that day. There was an Amul ad on it, people were discussing it. I think it was great to do it on a 15th year, it’s cool. She was trending everywhere.”

(I love Sonam.  Have I mentioned that recently? just slipping in that “15th year”!)
