Happy Election Day! I got up very early and voted at the Croation Cultural Center. I could have voted early or done a mail in ballot or any number of other things, but I really like the Croation Cultural Center and waiting until the actual day gives me an excuse to poke around inside. Oh, and looking at my schedule of reviews, today is weirdly going to be all about female vengeance, so that’s kind of a cool theme
First, my favorite election day song!!!!! So straight forward.

A Rahman take on campaigning and elections
The less rural and more powerful version of campaigning.
Remember to vote or upperclass spoiled idiots like this could be running your country!
(and if he loses, he just leaves the country. It’s perfect!)
Vote instead for the local who cares about the people and will never leave them
But most of all, VOTE! It’s the most important thing you can do for your country.

My husband and I are doing GOTV this morning. There’s a very tight race in a nearby congressional district and I really felt the need to do something concrete to help. It’s a giant PITA because it’s an hour and a half drive each way but worth it.

My mom got up at 6am to pamphlet, but at least she didn’t have to drive anywhere! Yuch! And thank you

Took the day off work to volunteer in a NJ swing district (NJ 7). Now drenched after walking around for 2 hours in the rain, but better than sitting at my desk refreshing Twitter every 2 mins. Interesting mix of activists, union members, and party pros here. The local council race is a nailbiter, didn’t know about it before this morning, now hoping we made a difference! The primary here was decided by ten votes.

I am having a normal day, although I did get to see the Republican and Democrat judges have a fight over me this morning. I messed up my ballot (stupid ten million judges) and they couldn’t decide if I needed a whole new ballot or just the second sheet. I think the argument was less about party politics and more about the Democrat being a scary million year old woman and the Republican being a little teenager who wanted to follow the rules. I predict that the poor little teenage Republican is going to have a very hard day. Which is good, maybe it will make her reconsider her life choices.

Update: the guy we were working for won! Malinowski is such a good, moral guy, having him in Congress is a great thing. (And he’s from Poland, in case Angie’s paying attention.) Yay!

LOL I read the name and said: oh such a polish surname, but I thought he must be second generation immigrant. I surprised he was actually born in Poland. Hope he wll work well for people.

Well, our lousy Democrat governor candidate won. He’s not the best guy, but so long as he FINALLY switches the state to graduate rate income tax, I will be fine. Such a boring thing to be excited about, doesn’t work well on campaign signs and stuff, but it’s all we need to fix a lot of our problems.
