Upcoming Movie Announcement: Malayalam ReRun, Niram! Swoon to 90s Love

Obviously, next week’s Tamil review will be Sarkar, whenever I get a chance to see it.  But I won’t forget Malayalam entirely, I want to put up a rerun of one of the sweetest nicest little romances of the 90s.

Niram!  It’s on us.hotstar.com.  And youtube if you don’t need subtitles.

DO NOT WATCH THE NIVIN PAULY MOVIE!!!!!  That is “Neram” and came out much later.  You are looking for “Niram” which came out in 1999 and stars Shalini and Kunchacko Babo.

And yes, it is very hard to find but it is SO WORTH IT.  You may have to set up a us.hotstar.com trial just to watch this movie, but you should have an account anyway because they have everything and quickly working out their technical kinks.

  1. I wanted to thank you for cluing me in to Hotstar! I had never heard of it until you mentioned it. Now, it’s my go-to movie watching purveyor! The only downside – it’s so hard to turn off. Just watched Niram on it.

    • Yaaaaay! I am always happy to hear people were able to get and appreciate hotstar! And extra happy that you were able to watch Niram on it, such a cute movie and so impossible to find anywhere else.

  2. I haven’t watched Niram, but watched the Telugu remake Nuvve Kavali (Tarun-Richa) and Tujhe Meri Kasam (debuting Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia). This story pattern of childhood friends growing together -> only friends, no feelings -> getting engaged to others -> realizing at the end was repeated and beaten to death in those times – early 2000s.

    • Niram was so refreshing because it really felt like the first time for this story, the characters weren’t sure where they were going and the director wasn’t either.

  3. You can avoid paying if you use the Indian version of Hotstar…which is hotstar.com, but you should have some subscription to vpn servers, so that change the location to Indian and then stream for free.
