After my little “I am so isolated and miserable!” freak out last weekend, I am trying extra hard to be social this week. And thus, fewer posts. And tomorrow’s morning Friday classic post may go up more at 10am than 6am like usual.
Tuesday I had the Insane Day at work, survived it, got pizza on the way home, finished the Yeh Jawani post and wrote a couple of others for the next day.
Wednesday (yesterday), I got up an hour earlier than usual, scraped off the car, drove over to the garage and finally got it fixed. Then went to work, work work work, took myself out for lunch, came home, lugged in the enormous box of groceries I had delivered and discovered the sardines had leaked everywhere, cleaned that up, wrote more posts, went to bed.
Today, got up, packed up the enormous amount of dirty clothes I had to wash, lugged that huge bag down to the car, drove to work, worked, and then at the end of the day I was talking about how I have to go to the laundromat on the way home and my friend insisted that I have to go home with her so she can show me how awesome her sink attached washing machine is.
So, went home first to get coins and my laptop, then drove over to her place, struggled into a parking place, carried in my huge bag and my laptop and my purse, unloaded everything, and then loaded up again to make the journey to her laundry room. Because the sink attached machine is awesome, but not big enough for the Truly Enormous amount of clothes I had.
Now, my friend has been complaining since she moved about how horrible her laundry room is. I didn’t believe her, but OH MY GOSH! She has to go down the outside stairs, then along the side of the building for half a block, then out into the door to the alley, then along the back of the building (dodging cars) to the other side of the building, unlock the door, go down another flight of stairs, and do laundry. I did all of that and, after finally reaching the laundry room, realized I forgot my quarters. Back into the alley, through the puddles and past the dumpsters, into the locked gate, sneak along the side of the building, up the stairs, get the quarters, down again, along the side of the building, and so on and so forth. Meanwhile, she just hooked the hose up to the kitchen faucet and put the other hose in the sink to drain, put in her laundry and hit “start”. It is very tempting to get one of these machines, I have to say.
Anyway, we did laundry in our own individual ways and hung out and watched songs and stuff and I got to be with other Human People out in the World, which is all kinds of healthy. Oh, and she made me dinner, which was also healthy, with vegetables and stuff. And then I loaded up all my clothes (dry bag, wet bag, bag of stuff that didn’t fit in the machines) and loaded the car and came home.
And then parked, lugged all the bags upstairs to my place, and realized I left the phone in the car. Back down the stairs, down the block, grab the phone, back to the building, up the stairs, get back inside, and put all the clothes on the drying rack. And then sit down to right this post. I’m TIRED. And I have to be at work in 9 hours. Oh well. It’s almost the weekend.
