    • Pretty good! He’s a “toy” dog, which makes things easier. That is, I can give him a toy and he is perfectly happy for a long time.

I’m suddenly and irrationally completely committed to Buster — and the world will end if you name him Oscar. On the other hand . . .

(But of course, it’s YOUR choice. I’m not the one living with him.)

  2. I took the first letter with no repeats of all the selected names and came up with Job. It’s a good name for a shelter dog who’s been thru trials and tribulations, but not for your happy guy. Here’s a method my Native American friend taught me for discovering my totem animal. (Mine’s an owl, BTW; not a first choice but there you have it. The method harnesses your inner hoohah, or something, and seems to work.) Get comfortable, close your eyes, clear your mind (hard to do), and picture you and your dog romping in a meadow. The sun is out, birds singing, all’s right with the world. He runs ahead; you call out to him. Open your eyes, quick! What name pops instantly into your mind? That’s the one.
But I’m guessing you have a name already and I’m guessing it’s Jack.

    • Nope! I had a name, I was all set with Buster, and then I came to work on Monday and all my co-workers HATE that name. Which means I can’t use it, because this dog is spending 50% of his life at work and I need something they are all willing to use.
