I have to confess, I have never watched Rehna Hai Tera Dil Mein. Don’t even know why, it is right in my alleyway. Anyway, now is the time!
Rehna Hai Tera Dil Mein! You can rent it on youtube for 99 cents.
It’s a fun silly 90s/2000s romance with great songs, and Maddy becoming everyone’s favorite pretend boyfriend. And also this song:
And have you seen Minnale?

No, I have seen nothing! Are they different enough that I should watch them both?

Almost the same, but I think tamil heroine is little better. Let’s wait what Niviblog will say, because I have seen both movies years ago and don’t remember it well.

I do think Dia Mirza is wayy prettier than Reema Sen.

But in terms of performance, you’re right, Reema emotes a bit better. Probably because it wasn’t her debut like it was Dia’s.

As I said, I watched both movies long time ago, but I still remember that Dia was stunning but also very boring.

Oooh I’ve seen both RHTDM and Minnale a million times. It’s my guilty pleasure. In fact I recently watched both the versions side by side. Lol.

Do I need to see them both? I assumed it was a straight forward “everything is the same but the script is translated” situation. Is it more like Alai Payuthay and Saathiya, where there are actual differences?

There is only 1 difference, in the Tamil version, Reema Sen is a Christian. Though it’s not really an issue. There are a couple scenes more in Tamil but not of any great significance.

Also, the Tamil original of Zara Zara is way more risque.

Ah, Maddy! Always interesting. Young and impossibly handsome as in above; older and buff in Sala Khadoos and Vikram Vedha; stolid, complex and riveting in Breathe. I’m never disappointed.

And in his next movie, he plays santa! Okay, technically a brilliant oppressed rocket scientist, but maybe the brilliant oppressed scientist is also Santa.
