You ready for me to make your life VERY HARD? I’m going to do a series of match ups and, for at least one, you have to choose someone who is not Shahrukh.
Artsy black and white photo

With kids

With Madhuri

In Tuxedo

Shirtless

With Long Hair

Okay, 6 options! And for at least one of them, you have to pick a not-Shahrukh as the best.
I think I gotta go with Harsh in black and white. The man just cannot take a bad photo! And Kunal in a tux might be a tie. That Shahrukh tux photo is a classic, but it’s Kunal Kapoor. He is always the best.
That’s really not fair. I don’t find any of the other men to be appealing enough for me topics them over SRK, so I will pick the Roshan’s kids. They look adorable and you didn’t specify that I had to pick a guy. So, I will pick the photo with Roshan’s children because they look super sweet. =P

And that is exactly why I put in a kids photo! We can always pick adorable children over Shahrukh, he won’t hold that against us.

Kunal isn’t a match to ShahRukh’s Atticus Finch tuxedo pic (at least not for me 😉 )!
However, just for the choice you made, I choose Arjun’s long-hair pic (I too much enjoy Aryan and Suhana to grimace like that…it’s so ShahRukh-y 🙂 )
Btw, it’s a rather limited “world” 😉

Well, I was up late last night with Prabhas, I decided to arbitrarily limit this world to the easiest photos to find.

This one is easy. Harsh in the artsy black and white photo because seeing SRK smoking is upsetting anyway.

Excellently reasoned! And the Harsh photo is really good.

I think the only one I would really have fought you on was Madhuri. That photo is just soooooooooo good, there can’t be anything else to equal it.

No explanation necessary.
Kids Hrithik
Your srk kids photo isn’t loading, so hrithik by default. Plus he really does have the world’s cutest boys, plus there is a pair (vs solo abram and taimur) so double trouble.
Madhuri Aamir
It’s a lovely but posed/performance photo with SRK, where they are both making the same faces they would make at a tree that they were romancing.
The aamir photo is clearly more imperfect, yet it wins by a mile, because it shows them in their natural element, and it shows that they clearly have a friendly comfortable “know each other well” rapport of colleagues and equals. It’s a Life Magazine (or NatGeo or coffee table book) behind the scenes photo of 90s BW, even if it’s a modern photo.
Tux. Srk
Beautiful tux. Beautiful pose. Hand in the waistline, gently pulling it down. Beautiful lighting. Beautiful hair. Beautiful expression. Just the right angle for a middle aged man. Glancing 45deg toward the ground is a perfectly mysterious look.
Kunal looks good but could do way better. This choice of tux and fit exaggerate his bean pole ness. His expression doesn’t look comfortable. And he’s missing his long curly locks. Even short hair looks metrosexual on him, but this outgrown midlength doesn’t work.
Shirtless. Prabhas
Prabhas is born to look like this. He should always be shirtless, Indian style pants or lungi/dhoti, arms spread due to muscle bulk, wet scraggly curly locks, and smirkingly looking sideways, giving us his face side profile. Hold it there, never move.
Srk as chippendales dancer? Just no. This might have been humorous in his 90s avatar, but not his 21st century looks.
Long hair. Arjun
He looks so perfectly like a 1970s classic ticket or journeyman guitarist, the ponytail, the weathered earthtone tshirt, the stache, the expression, the necklace, the sepia tones, the high cheekbones. The only thingd not working are “Get Down” on the t-shirt (that’s more R&B than classic rock) and the cross on the necklace (unless he’s a Christian rocker).
Srk looks like he’s asking the props person, “are you seriously making me wear this hair thing?
Who knew that the only guy he’d win against would be my BW bf Kunal?

Thank you so much for giving this post the serious consideration it deserves!
The kids photo is the one where Suhana and Aryan are on his lap and they are all making faces. But, following your concern with the Madhuri photo, it also looks staged versus the Hrithik and boys one which feels totally relaxed and casual and everyday hanging out with the family. So I think you would probably still go with Hrithik. Plus, there is something innately pleasing about how much the two boys look like each other and Hrithik, but at the same time distinctly different. Matched by not matched.
Interesting theory with the Madhuri photo! I would still go with SRK Madhuri, but then I like the perfectly posed and fake and pleasing arrangement effect over the candid messy realness. So I agree with your reasoning, but disagree with your conclusion.
It’s really not fair to Kunal, his tux photo is just a candid from a red carpet, while SRK’s tux photo is clearly a carefully arranged piece of art. I love the SRK tux photo, but I knew it wasn’t really fair to try to set someone up against it.
Yeah, I strongly feel that SRK shirtless is just not the best look for him. Whereas Prabhas carries it off perfectly. The only Shirtless photo of Shahrukh that I think really really works is this one, where it seems as though he was surprised to notice the camera. I can’t buy him as someone striding around without a shirt all casual, he seems to self-aware for that.
Finally, some Arjun love! And the cross still works because his character is supposed to be a Goan Christian. So his not a rocker who plays Christian music, but he is a rocker who is proudly declaring his identity in a very rock kind of way, not just wearing the cross as an affectation.

SRK looks good shirtless when it’s just as a tease. Doing those shirtless serious poses doesn’t work for him because even he know how ridiculous it is.
See, this type of shirtless works. As long as he’s goofing around and not taking himself seriously –

Anonymous, these are marvelous posts, really showing off his personality and sense of humour. Thank you!
I honestly do like him shirtless, esp in character, like Dard de Disco or Asoka or the photo Margaret posted in her reply, just not shirtless with a tie, which implies male dance revue ala Chippendales or 50 Shades of Men. Not hot.

Agreed, it’s the locker room effect. Unselfconscious like an athlete, not posey like a model.

Fascinating, I also saw a thing that it was the top movie streaming in India the day it released.
Goes back to what we have talked about, Shahrukh’s audience (mostly women) are just not going to theaters any more, and so his films are doing better once they reach a platform where women can see them without needing to escape the home or explain an expensive ticket purchase.

Also shows how much the pre-planned negativity works to dissuade theater goers. It’s crazy how (fake) bad reviews and negativity starts days before the movie even releases. It’s hard to justify buying a ticket in that environment.
