The veterans got all those great fanfics yesterday, time to move on! Armistice day now, lets look at peace songs. Or, rather, catchy modern songs that use “shanti” as a repeated phrase.
This song is SO GOOD!!!!! It has now become the first thing that starts going through my head when I hear “shanthi”. “Oh Shanthi Shanthi” from Vaaranam Aayiram.
And of course, the classic cry for peace, “all cool girls put your hands up”. At least, that’s what I learned from “Deewangi Deewangi”
Now, this one isn’t a direct “Shanthi” song, but it still always comes to mind. Juhi’s character in this amazingly good movie is named “Shanthi”, which is funny because her life with her husband is so hectic.
And there’s my beloved Ohm Shanthi Oshaana, and “Sneham Cherum Neram”
And The Internet just suggested this song to me, which is surprisingly catchy! “Om Shanthi Om” from Run Raja Run.
And finally, the classic “Om Shanti Om”, the Karz version!

“Om S(h)anti Om S(h)anti” always reminds me of Chiranjeevi’s Challenge – the music, the dance steps, the style.

Seeing the town I grew up in (Berkeley) in a foreign language music video was a delight! It looked so clean! Too clean, at first I didn’t believe it was really Berkeley. I guess I need to see that movie now. I have not yet seen a Tamil language film.

It is a super super complicated movie! Prepare yourself for mind bending and a long complicated story. And not a fun story? Like, deeper. Tamil films are always deeper.

Good selection of songs in this post – I like most of them, esp. Suriya’s song.
I understand the theme of the post, but just 2 of my favorite songs from my end, that actually talk about Peace (S(h)anti) – both in AR Rahman + Mani Ratnam combo – Roja and Kannathil Muthamithal
