I gotta sort this for us, he has A LOT of songs in the past ten years. But I will limit it down just to the ones I already really like, and if I miss a really good one, you can fill it in.
Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa has both “Hosanna” and “Anbil Avan”
Rockstar, “Kun Faya Kun”
Kadal, “Elay Keechum”
Highway “Maahi Ve”
I “Ennodu Nee Irundhaal”
OK Kanmani “Mental Manadhil”
Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada “Thalli Pogathay”
Kaatru Veliyidai “Vaan” and “Azhagiye”
Mersal “Macho”
Chekka Chivantha Vaanam “Sevandhu Pochu Nenju”
Sarvam Thaala Mayam “Sarvam Thaala Mayam”
Oh wow, I don’t think I can pick! It was hard enough just picking which songs to include. I guess my heart is saying “Sarvam Thaala Mayam“, but that could be just because it was the one I saw most recently. It’s hard!
Maahi Ve from Highway. It’s filled with so much beauty. It’s upbeat, but still somehow calming.

It hits that sweet spot between simple and complex. The melody is so straight forward, but then he layers all those different variations on top of each other.

Omg this is too hard but I love this post. LOVE A R Rahman. Oh i just realized it’s just this last decade..ok that makes it a little easier! Like Kirre said “Maahi Ve” from Highway is so beautiful. It’s one of my favorites too. “Tum ho” from Rockstar is beautiful too, hear it if you haven’t. “Agar Tum Saath Ho” from Rockstar is also one of my favorites, so beautiful. “Saans” from JTHJ is also so good. The title song “Raanjhanaa” from Raanjhanaa is also really nice. These would be my top songs unless I’m forgetting anything. “Maahi Ve” and “Agar Tum Saath Ho” are my favorites from these but my absolute favorites of his would be the ones from the 90s, so soulful.

So glad someone read this post! Rahman had so many great songs even in the 2010s, his less-good era, it was really hard to limit myself!
