Happy Birthday Farah Khan! What is the Best Farah Khan Song of the Past Decade?

Problem of course, there is no good record of who choreographed what songs. So these are the songs that, as best as possible, I have confirmed Farah did between 2010 and 2019.

“Gerua”

“Sheila Ki Jawaani”

“Manwa Laage”

“India Waale”

“Dance Like a Chammiya”

“World Dance Medley”

“Lovely”

“440 Volt”

“Ek Dooni Do”

“Fevicol Se”

“Hook Up Song”

“I Hate U Like I Love U”

Brace yourself, I’m going to go out on a limb and place my own vote! A tie between “I Hate U Like I Love U” and “Dance Like a Chammiye”. It is really REALLY hard to do a fake-bad song!

    • See, I think you are saying that as an LA dweller. As a person in a place with winter, TOO COLD!!! It’s, like, painful to watch.

      • I’m originally from NY so I know cold. And I know they were freezing! But just so so gracefully beautiful. My fave part is them on shadow lake in the brown/tan color outfits. Both look like perfection. Sigh…

        • They do have a kind of “frozen Ice Gods” feel to them in some scenes.

  1. I have to go with Manwa Laage. It is the perfect example of Farah’s continuing quest to remove Sharukh’s clothes. And now I have to rewatch Happy New Year just for the fun of it.

    • (Note – to go along with your previous post regarding ridiculous movie titles, I eliminated the second “h” in Shahrukh Khan’s name.)

    • I was tempted by Manwa Laage too! It’s also a more complex song than it seems. So many different sets and scenes, plus the special effects work with the fire, and that big major dance number with extras in the middle for Deepika.

  2. On a side note, Farah Khan and Boman Irani starred in a charming rom-com about two over 40 singletons finding each other. It’s not a perfect movie but it is sweet. A bit of trivia – the actress playing Boman Irani’s mother is, in real life, Farah Khan’s aunt. The movie is Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi

  3. I strangely don’t like the songs she’s done since 2007, its like she felt she was too good to be a choreographer as she’d turned director byt hen. My favorite songs of hers are from Alaipayuthey – Kadhal Sadhugudu is top of list and then Pachai Nirame – they were so fresh!

    • Wow, I had no idea she did Alai Payuthay! I agree, she was much more inventive and fearless in the early years.

  4. The children LOVE Manwa Laage – they think it is soooo funny, especially the end. I’m partial to Sheila, it was a sensation for a reason. But the best thing is that the father of the girls I watch picked them up while we were watching India Waale and when Deepika came onto the screen this big rancher type man’s jaw dropped and he said “wow she’s pretty”.

    • I love that the kids love “Manwa Laage”! we watch it for the romance and SRK feels, but it successfully works on a totally comic level too!
