Worst Hindi Movie Title of the 2010s! "Hisss" or "Darr @ the Mall" or "I Hate Luv Storys" or Something Else?

Oooo, this is a challenging one! So many irritating creative spelling/grammer/Hinglish mixtures in this past decade. But which one is the WORST?

I decided to give 2019 it’s own little post, so this is every title EXCEPT the 2019s.

Road, Movie

It’s the comma. I hate it. So awkward to say “road……movie”. And anyway, who puts a comma in the middle of a movie title?

I Hate Luv Storys

Why remove all the “e”s except one?

Hisss

Can anyone stop after one “s” and not just keep going “sssssssssss”?

Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon

India’s first serious male-male romance, and I can’t take it seriously because of this STUPID title.

Naughty @ 40

No

Bbuddah Hoga…Tere Baap

I actually kind of like the film! But with the extra “b”s and the ellipses, I just can’t even.

R…Rajkumar

When you realize there is another movie coming out with a similar title, why is your solution to just remove the middle of your title?

Darr @ the Mall

I either hate this or love it and I can’t decide.

The Xposé

The accent over the e, that is the line beyond which I cannot go.

Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3

I decided to go for the third one, complete with the “K” for “C” and the extra “a” and the Hinglish.

Te3n

Is it “10” or is it “teen”? Or something else? I don’t know!

Guest iin London

The small subtle extra “i” is somehow worse than if it were more aggressive, right?

Which is WORST?

  1. I don’t have a problem with dunno y na jaane kyon – I don’t know why is a good title for any romance – but didn’t see most of these so I can’t comment on whether it’s an appropriate title, I just don’t mind it as a title.

I’m guessing that Te3n is a silly hinglish play on 3 (teen in Hindi) so I’m ok w that. The rest are just lazy except for Kya Kool…that’s just terrible. The os are boobs. And ‘India’s first porn-com’? Are they bragging? Blech.

    • You must have a far higher tolerance for inventive spelling/punctuation than I do. And I know I know, I am a terrible speller and shouldn’t judge. But at least I am trying!

Also, you forced me to look more closely at the Kyaa Kool poster and now I will never be able to unsee it. The o boobs will haunt my dreams.

          • Oh come on! The boobs in Kya Kool and the little spermies in Good Newwz literally jump out! Hmmm… maybe this is some sort of a Rorschach test. Or maybe I just think like a pubescent teenager!

          • So, “something else”? I thought so!

  2. The worst title- Toilet: Ek Prem Katha 😉

My personal favourite: Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana (wikipedia tells me it means Laaddoo, the crazy lover at Laali’s wedding)

I think Himesh Reshammiya deserves his own post because all his movies have terrible titles: Damadaam!, A* is killed (this one was shelved), The Xposè , Happy Hardy and Heer and the worst in my opinion A New Love Ishtory.

Road, Movie – forget the title I shocked how bad the poster is. Poor Abhay deserves better 😦

    • I think there’s another better poster for “Road, Movie”, I just got the one that showed the title clearly.

I was going to assume Himesh does that dumb numerology thing, but Happy Hardy and Heer isn’t even numerology, it’s just odd. So I guess he has odd taste in titles!

  3. Naughty @ 40 needs to be firebombed out of existence, but as far as title spellings go there are some that I hate more. Honestly I just hate I hate luv storys so much. So much. Second place to Rrrrrrrr……………… Rajkummar because I don’t even know how I’m supposed to say it.

    • “R [breath] [breath] [breath] Rajkumar” And that is such a fun silly movie! If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it to you in particular. Amoral hero/plot, and lots of floral shirts.

The whole imagery of a film that “Naughty @ 40” brings up is terrible. At least “I hate love stories” is a decent title on its own. Not great, but not immediately awful. It’s the spelling that kills it.

      • It sounds great, but I can’t get over the title.

The thing about Naughty @ 40 is that that title and the horrendous feeling it gives you is 100% what the movie is, or at least that’s what other Govinda fans tell me.

Yeah, exactly, I will never watch that movie and it’s because of that stupid spelling.

        • Does it help that there is a reason (a lame one, but at least a reason) behind the R…Rajkumar decision? It was going to be Rambo Rajkumar or Raja Rajkumar, and then Saif announced his film “Bullet Raja” to release right at the same time, the producers got worried abotu confusion between the two, scrambled to come up with a title that would be close enough they didn’t have to redesign the publicity campaign but far enough people wouldn’t mix them up, failed, and ended up just keeping the “R” in front of Rambo/Raja and erasing the rest.

Really, it’s a total Popka movie! Sonu Sood is the villain! Who doesn’t love Sonu Sood?

          • He’s the best villain! And in this movie, they really had fun playing with his height difference with Shahid, versus in most films where they try to make the hero look as tall as him.

          • I did more research! Turns out, “Rambo Rajkumar” is a real person who used that name as a stuntman in the southern film industry. And also, the owners of “Rambo” sent a legal letter to the producers which is why they had to change the title. So, it’s Sylvester Stallone’s fault.

          • Oh, yeah, then it’s not their fault I guess. At that point I would give up and call it Rajkumar Rajkumar or just Rajkumar though, this is the silliest possible outcome.

  4. Oh, I can’t decided which I hate the most. Te3n is just dumb because it makes it look like a comedy instead of a thriller. And ellipses should just be banned from movie titles. Nora Ephron wrote an essay called When Harry Met Sally Dot Dot Dot about how she loved everything about the movie except the title they eventually settled on. The only one I don’t mind is Hisss. The extra letters make sense for a change, because it’s hissing.

    Like

    • But how long is it hissing? “Hisss” bothers me because how did they decide on three s’s? Why not 4 or 5 or 10? There is no limitation here! It is a world without rules!

    • Finally someone takes the time to consider and respond to this! “Darr @ the Mall” swings back to enjoyable stupid for me, but “Road, Movie” drives me CRAZY.
